Crystal Azotrix is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide specially formulated for paddy (rice) crops. It contains two powerful active ingredients — Azoxystrobin 16.7% and Tricyclazole 33.3% in a Suspension Concentrate (SC) formulation. This dual-action fungicide is designed to control the most damaging fungal diseases in paddy, including blast, sheath blight, and brown leaf spot.
Azoxystrobin belongs to the strobilurin chemical group and works by disrupting fungal respiration, while Tricyclazole (from the triazole group) blocks melanin synthesis in the fungus, preventing spore germination and infection. Together, they provide both preventive and curative protection. Crystal Azotrix is absorbed quickly by the plant and moves systemically, ensuring thorough disease control from within. Its rainfast formula makes it effective even during wet weather, giving farmers reliable protection when they need it most.
This fungicide is recommended for use at the early appearance of disease symptoms. Regular and timely application helps maintain grain quality by preventing black spots and discoloration on seeds, reduces crop loss, and supports healthier plant growth and better yields. Crystal Azotrix is manufactured by Crystal Crop Protection Ltd., a trusted name in Indian agriculture, and is suitable for use in integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
Key Benefits
- Broad-spectrum disease control — Effectively manages blast, sheath blight, and brown leaf spot in paddy with a single product.
- Dual-action protection — Combines two different modes of action (respiration inhibition + melanin inhibition) for stronger preventive and curative results.
- Systemic action — Absorbed and moved throughout the plant, providing complete internal protection against fungal infections.
- Rainfast formula — Works effectively even during rainy weather, reducing the risk of wash-off and ensuring long-lasting control.
- Improves grain quality — Prevents black spots and discoloration on seeds, helping farmers get cleaner, healthier grain at harvest.
- Cost-effective protection — Long residual effect reduces the need for frequent sprays, saving time and money.
- Supports higher yields — By controlling diseases early, the plant stays healthy and vigorous, leading to better tillering, panicle formation, and overall yield.
How It Works
Crystal Azotrix works through two complementary modes of action that attack the fungus at different stages of its life cycle.
Azoxystrobin belongs to the strobilurin group of fungicides (QoI inhibitors). It works by blocking the electron transport chain in the mitochondria of fungal cells. This stops the fungus from producing energy (ATP), effectively starving it to death. Azoxystrobin acts on the fungus at very early stages — it prevents spore germination and stops the growth of the fungal mycelium. This makes it highly effective as a preventive treatment when applied before or at the first sign of disease.
Tricyclazole belongs to the triazole group and works differently. It inhibits melanin biosynthesis in the fungus. Many fungal pathogens, especially the blast fungus (Magnaporthe oryzae), need melanin to form appressoria — the infection structures that help the fungus penetrate plant tissue. By blocking melanin production, Tricyclazole prevents the fungus from infecting the plant. It also has some curative activity against established infections.
Together, these two ingredients provide a powerful combination: Azoxystrobin stops the fungus from growing and spreading, while Tricyclazole prevents new infections from taking hold. The SC (Suspension Concentrate) formulation ensures fine, uniform droplets that stick well to the leaf surface and are quickly absorbed into the plant tissue for systemic movement.

| Paddy | Blast, Sheath blight, Brown leaf spot | 200 ml | 150–200 litres |
For knapsack sprayer (15-litre tank): Mix 15 ml of Crystal Azotrix per 15 litres of water (approximately 1 ml per litre of water).
General foliar spray dosage: 400–500 ml per acre as per some sources — always follow the specific dosage instructions on the product label for your region and disease pressure.
Method: Foliar spray only. Not recommended for drip irrigation or soil application.
When to Use
Crystal Azotrix is most effective when applied at the early appearance of disease symptoms. For paddy crops, the key application windows are:
- Tillering stage: For sheath blight control — apply when first symptoms appear on lower leaves or sheaths.
- Panicle initiation stage: For blast control — this is a critical time to protect the panicle from neck blast infection.
- Early disease stage: Use at the first sign of brown leaf spot or any leaf lesions to prevent the disease from spreading.
Spray during calm weather conditions — early morning or late evening is ideal. Avoid spraying during strong wind or when rain is expected immediately, although the rainfast formula provides some protection if light rain occurs after application. Under high disease pressure, a second application may be needed after 10–15 days. Always monitor the crop regularly and consult local agricultural experts for region-specific timing.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water. Add the measured quantity of Crystal Azotrix (200 ml per acre or 15 ml per 15-litre tank). Stir or shake well.
- Mix thoroughly: Add the remaining water and mix again to ensure a uniform suspension. Do not prepare more solution than needed for immediate use.
- Wear protective gear: Put on gloves, a face mask, and goggles before handling or spraying the solution.
- Spray evenly: Apply as a foliar spray, covering all parts of the plant — especially the leaves, stems, and tillers where disease symptoms appear. Ensure uniform coverage for best results.
- Clean equipment: After spraying, rinse the spray tank and nozzles thoroughly with clean water. Do not dispose of leftover solution or rinse water into water bodies or drains.
- Post-application care: Do not enter the sprayed field until the spray deposit has dried. Follow the recommended PHI (pre-harvest interval) before harvesting.
Compatibility
Crystal Azotrix is compatible with most commonly used agrochemicals in paddy cultivation. However, do not mix with strong alkaline or acidic products. If tank-mixing with other products is needed, always perform a small jar test first to check for physical compatibility (no clumping, separation, or precipitation). For specific tank-mix recommendations, consult the product label or your local agriculture advisor.
Precautions & Safety
- Wear gloves, face mask, and goggles while handling and spraying the product.
