Pretilachlor (6%) is a pre-emergence herbicide that works on contact. When applied to the soil or water surface, it is absorbed by germinating weed seeds and seedlings. It inhibits cell division and growth in young weed shoots and roots, preventing them from emerging above the soil or water. This stops weeds before they become a problem.

Bensulfuron Methyl (0.6%) is a systemic herbicide that belongs to the sulfonylurea group. It works by inhibiting the ALS (acetolactate synthase) enzyme, which is essential for the production of amino acids needed for weed growth. This active ingredient is absorbed through the roots and foliage of emerged weeds and moves throughout the plant, stopping growth within a few days. Weeds gradually turn yellow, stop growing, and eventually die.

For best results, apply when the weather is calm and there is no heavy rain expected. Avoid application in fields with very deep water or completely dry conditions, as this can reduce the effectiveness of the herbicide.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

1. Prepare the field: Ensure the paddy field is properly levelled and puddled before transplanting. Maintain standing water of 2.5–5 cm depth.
2. Transplant seedlings: Transplant 20–25 day old paddy seedlings as per normal practice.
3. Time the application: Apply Crystal Bentila within 3 to 7 days after transplanting.
4. Measure the dose: Use exactly 4 kg of Crystal Bentila granules per acre. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
5. Apply uniformly: Broadcast the granules evenly across the entire field by hand or using a granule applicator. Walk in a systematic pattern to avoid missing any area.
6. Maintain water level: Keep standing water of 2.5–5 cm depth in the field for at least 3–5 days after application. Do not drain or let the field dry during this period.
