Crystal Furadan 3G is a broad-spectrum insecticide from Crystal Crop Protection that effectively controls a wide range of soil-dwelling and foliar pests. It contains Carbofuran 3% CG (Encapsulated), which works through contact, stomach, and systemic action to protect crops from damaging insects and nematodes. The encapsulated formulation provides longer-lasting control and is dust-free, making it safer and easier to handle during application.
This insecticide is registered for use on more than 25 crops including paddy, maize, sugarcane, bajra, groundnut, tomato, chilli, apple, and citrus. It targets major pests such as shoot fly, stem borer, brown plant hopper (BPH), gall midge, green leaf hopper, hispa, white grub, top borer, whitefly, aphids, thrips, woolly aphid, leaf miner, and nematodes. Crystal Furadan 3G is applied through soil application or broadcasting, making it a practical choice for farmers looking for comprehensive pest management in a single product.
Key Benefits
- Broad-spectrum control – effectively manages both soil pests (nematodes, grubs) and foliar insects (aphids, thrips, borers) in one application
- Encapsulated formulation provides longer duration of pest control compared to conventional granular insecticides
- Dust-free and easy to handle – the encapsulated CG formulation reduces dust during application, improving safety for the farmer
- Systemic action – the active ingredient is absorbed by the plant and moves through its tissues, reaching pests that are hard to target with contact-only sprays
- Triple mode of action (contact, stomach, systemic) ensures effective control even if pests are not directly hit during application
- Registered for use on over 25 crops, making it a versatile solution for diverse farming operations
- Helps protect yield by controlling damaging pests at the root zone and on the plant
How It Works
Crystal Furadan 3G contains Carbofuran, which belongs to the carbamate group of insecticides. When applied to the soil, the granules release the active ingredient, which is taken up by plant roots and distributed systemically throughout the plant tissues. This systemic movement ensures that even hidden or sucking pests like stem borers, aphids, and leaf miners are exposed to the chemical when they feed on the plant.
Carbofuran works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in the pest's nervous system. This enzyme is essential for normal nerve signal transmission. When it is blocked, the insect's nerves become overstimulated, leading to paralysis and eventually death. Because Furadan 3G also works through contact and stomach action, pests that come into direct contact with treated soil or ingest treated plant material are also controlled. This triple mode of entry makes it highly effective against a wide spectrum of insects and nematodes in the soil and on the plant.

Method of Application: Soil application and broadcasting. Apply the granules directly to the soil and mix lightly if possible. Ensure the soil is moist at the time of application for better activation and uptake.
When to Use
Crystal Furadan 3G is best applied during or just after planting to protect young crops from early pest attacks. The first application should be done at planting time or during the initial growth stages to control soil-borne insects and nematodes before they cause significant damage. For crops like paddy and maize, apply when pest pressure is expected based on local history or scouting. For apple trees, apply around the root zone when aphid or thrips infestation is observed. The best time of day for application is early morning or late afternoon to reduce the risk of the product drifting away and to protect beneficial insects like pollinators. The frequency of application depends on the crop type, pest severity, and local conditions.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check the soil moisture: Ensure the soil is moist before application. This helps the granules release the active ingredient properly and improves root uptake.
- Measure the correct dosage: Use the recommended dosage from the table above based on your crop. Use a weighing scale for accurate measurement.
- Apply the granules: For field crops like paddy, maize, bajra, sugarcane, and groundnut, broadcast the granules evenly over the soil. For apple trees, apply the measured dose around the root zone of each tree.
- Mix into soil (optional but recommended): Lightly mix the granules into the top layer of soil using a rake or light tillage to improve contact with pests and roots.
- Irrigate if needed: If the soil is dry, irrigate lightly after application to help the granules dissolve and move into the root zone.
- Wear protective gear: Always wear gloves, a mask, and protective clothing while handling and applying the product. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after application.
- Store safely: Keep unused product in its original container, tightly sealed, away from children, food, and animal feed.
Compatibility
Crystal Furadan 3G can be mixed with other compatible insecticides and fertilizers. However, do not mix with highly alkaline products. It is recommended to seek expert advice or follow label instructions before mixing with any other product. Always perform a small jar test before large-scale mixing to check for any adverse reactions.
