Key Benefits
- Controls all nymphal stages of mites including eggs through contact and stomach action
- Ovicidal action stops mite population before eggs hatch, reducing future infestations
- Translaminar action reaches mites on both sides of the leaf for thorough coverage
- Safe to environment and harmless to beneficial insects, making it ideal for integrated pest management
- Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) mode of action disrupts moulting in mites, preventing them from maturing
- Effective against multiple mite species including scarlet mite, red spider mite, and yellow mite
- Available in multiple pack sizes (100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1 L) suitable for different farm sizes
How It Works
Crystal Mitolin contains Hexythiazox 5.45% EC, an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) that works by inhibiting the moulting process in mites. Mites, like all arthropods, must shed their outer skin (moult) to grow and develop from one stage to the next. Mitolin interferes with this process, preventing nymphs from completing their development into adults. This effectively breaks the mite life cycle and stops population build-up.
The product works through both contact and stomach action. When mites come in direct contact with the spray or consume treated plant tissue, the active ingredient enters their system. Mitolin also has translaminar action, meaning it moves through the leaf tissue from the upper surface to the lower surface. This is especially important because mites often feed and hide on the underside of leaves, making them difficult to reach with ordinary contact sprays.
A key advantage of Mitolin is its ovicidal action — it kills mite eggs before they hatch. This means the product not only controls existing mite populations but also prevents the next generation from emerging. By targeting eggs and all nymphal stages, Mitolin provides comprehensive mite management across multiple life stages.

Recommended Dosage & Application
| Crop | Target Pest | Dose (ml/acre) |
|---|---|---|
| Tea | Scarlet mite, Red spider mite | 120-200 |
| Chilli | Yellow mite | 120-200 |
Note: The dosage range of 120-200 ml per acre applies to both crops. Always use the recommended dose based on the severity of infestation and crop stage. Mix the required quantity in sufficient water (typically 200-500 litres per acre depending on crop canopy) and spray uniformly.
When to Use
Apply Crystal Mitolin when mite infestation is first noticed on the crop. Early application is most effective as the product works on eggs and young nymphal stages. Monitor crops regularly, especially during dry and warm weather when mite populations tend to increase rapidly. Look for early signs of mite damage such as stippling, yellowing, or fine webbing on leaves, particularly on the undersides.
For Tea, apply when scarlet mite or red spider mite activity is observed. For Chilli, apply at the first sign of yellow mite infestation. The product's ovicidal and IGR action makes it most effective when applied before mite populations reach damaging levels. Repeat applications may be needed based on pest pressure, but follow recommended intervals and do not exceed the specified dosage.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check infestation: Inspect the crop thoroughly, especially the underside of leaves, to confirm mite presence and assess severity.
- Measure the dose: Use 120-200 ml of Crystal Mitolin per acre based on pest pressure. Use a clean measuring cup for accurate measurement.
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the measured quantity of Mitolin and mix well. Add remaining water and stir thoroughly.
- Spray application: Apply the spray uniformly on both sides of the leaves. Ensure good coverage of the lower leaf surface where mites commonly hide.
- Clean equipment: After spraying, rinse the spray tank and equipment thoroughly with clean water.
- Observe re-entry period: Do not enter treated fields for at least 24 hours after application.
- Follow PHI: Do not harvest Tea for 5 days and Chilli for 3 days after the last spray.
