How It Works

Crystal Monceren works through contact action. When sprayed on the plant or applied to seed tubers, the active ingredient Pencycuron remains on the surface and does not get absorbed into the plant system (non-systemic). It forms a protective barrier that prevents the fungal pathogen Rhizoctonia solani from penetrating plant tissues. The fungicide specifically inhibits mycelial growth, meaning it stops the fungal threads from spreading on leaves, stems, and tubers. In paddy, this prevents sheath blight from moving upward from the initial infection site. In potatoes, the treatment eliminates black scurf at the seed stage itself, ensuring the disease does not develop on the new crop. Because the product stays on the surface and is not washed off easily by rain, it provides long-lasting protection throughout the critical infection period.

When to Use

For Paddy (Rice): Apply Crystal Monceren as a foliar spray at the first sign of sheath blight symptoms. Look for initial lesions on leaf sheaths near the water line. Early application stops the disease from spreading upward to the flag leaf and panicle. If the disease persists, a repeat application can be done after 15 days.

For Potato: Use as a seed tuber dip treatment before planting. Treat the seed tubers before sowing to eliminate black scurf at the source. This ensures the disease does not develop on the new crop, leading to uniform emergence and clean, marketable tubers at harvest.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

For Foliar Spray on Paddy:

1. Wear protective gear – gloves, mask, and long-sleeved clothing before handling the product.
2. Fill a clean spray tank with half the required amount of water (about 100 litres).
3. Measure 240 to 280 ml of Crystal Monceren and add it to the tank.
4. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly to ensure uniform dilution.
5. Spray evenly on the paddy crop using a flat-fan nozzle, covering the base of the plants where sheath blight starts.
6. Apply at the first sign of disease. Repeat after 15 days if needed.

For Seed Tuber Treatment on Potato:

1. Prepare the solution by mixing 250 ml of Crystal Monceren in sufficient clean water to fully immerse the seed tubers.
2. Dip 800 kg of seed tubers in the solution for 10 to 15 minutes.
3. Remove the tubers and dry them in shade before sowing.
4. Plant the treated tubers as per normal practice.
