Crystal Riceact is a dual-active, early post-emergence herbicide specially designed for weed management in paddy fields. It contains two powerful active ingredients — Triafamone 20% and Ethoxysulfuron 10% — in a water-dispersible granule (WG) formulation. This combination is made to tackle a wide range of weeds including grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds that commonly affect rice crops. Crystal Riceact is suitable for both transplanted rice and wet direct-seeded rice (DSR), making it a flexible option for different paddy farming methods.
The product works by blocking the ALS enzyme in weeds, which stops their growth and leads to complete control. With a single early application at 90 g per acre, it provides season-long weed control, reducing the need for repeated sprays. This saves time, labour, and input costs for farmers. The product also offers excellent crop safety, meaning it controls weeds effectively without harming the rice plants. Crystal Riceact is available in 45 g and 90 g pack sizes, making it easy to match the dosage to the field area.
Key Benefits
- Provides season-long weed control with just one early post-emergence spray — reduces the need for repeat applications
- Controls a broad spectrum of weeds including grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds in a single application
- Excellent crop safety — effective on weeds without damaging rice plants in transplanted or wet DSR conditions
- Superior residual effect keeps fields weed-free for longer, saving time and labour costs
- Dual active ingredients (Triafamone + Ethoxysulfuron) block the ALS enzyme for reliable and complete weed control
- Easy-to-use WG formulation with simple measuring and mixing for accurate field application
- Early application timing (8–12 days after transplanting/sowing) fits well into standard paddy management practices
How It Works
Crystal Riceact contains two active ingredients that work together to control weeds through different pathways. Triafamone is absorbed by both the roots and leaves of weeds. Once inside the weed plant, it moves through the plant system and starts blocking critical enzyme activity needed for growth. Ethoxysulfuron is taken up systemically through the foliage — it enters through the leaves and spreads throughout the weed plant.
Both active ingredients target and block the ALS (acetolactate synthase) enzyme, which is essential for weed plants to produce certain amino acids needed for growth and survival. When this enzyme is blocked, the weed stops growing within a few days. Over time, the weed plants turn yellow, wilt, and eventually die completely. Because the product is applied early (when weeds are small at the 1–3 leaf stage), it stops weeds before they can compete with the rice crop for water, nutrients, and sunlight. The residual activity in the soil continues to control new weed germination for an extended period, giving farmers season-long protection.

Application Notes:
- Mix 90 g of Crystal Riceact in sufficient water (typically 150–200 litres per acre) for uniform spray coverage
- Ensure the spray solution is well-mixed and applied evenly across the field
- Use a clean sprayer with proper nozzle settings for uniform droplet distribution
- Apply when the field has sufficient moisture but no standing water at the time of spraying
- Irrigate the field within 24–48 hours after application to activate the herbicide in the soil
When to Use
Crystal Riceact should be applied as an early post-emergence treatment when weeds are at the 1–3 leaf stage. This is the most effective time to control weeds because young weeds are more sensitive to the herbicide and have not yet started competing heavily with the rice crop.
For transplanted rice, apply the product 8–12 days after transplanting (DAT). For wet direct-seeded rice, apply 8–12 days after sowing (DAS). At this stage, the rice plants are well-established enough to tolerate the herbicide, while the emerging weeds are still small and vulnerable. Applying too early may reduce weed coverage, while applying too late may allow weeds to grow larger and become harder to control.
The best results are achieved when the soil is moist at the time of application. Avoid spraying during heavy rain or when rain is expected within 2–3 hours. Apply during calm weather conditions to prevent spray drift to neighbouring crops. For optimal residual effect, ensure the field is irrigated within 24–48 hours after spraying to move the herbicide into the weed root zone.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Calculate the dose: Measure exactly 90 g of Crystal Riceact for each acre of paddy field. For smaller areas, use 45 g pack for half-acre coverage.
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required water (about 75–100 litres per acre). Add the measured Crystal Riceact granules while stirring continuously.
- Mix thoroughly: Add the remaining water and mix well until the granules are fully dissolved and the solution appears uniform. Do not let the solution sit for long — use it within a few hours of mixing.
- Check the field conditions: Ensure the field has adequate moisture. Drain any standing water before spraying. The soil should be moist but not flooded.
- Apply evenly: Spray the solution uniformly across the entire field using a knapsack or power sprayer with a flat-fan nozzle. Ensure complete coverage of the weed foliage.
- Irrigate after spraying: Within 24–48 hours of application, irrigate the field with a thin layer of water (2–3 cm) to activate the herbicide in the soil for residual weed control.
- Clean the sprayer: After use, thoroughly rinse the spray tank, hoses, and nozzles with clean water. Dispose of rinsate away from water sources.
