How It Works

Crystal Snapper works through two different mechanisms of action that complement each other. Fenobucarb belongs to the Carbamate chemical group and acts as a neurotoxin. When hoppers come into contact with or ingest Fenobucarb, it disrupts the sodium and potassium ion channels in their nervous system. This causes rapid nerve failure, paralysis, and death of adult hoppers within a short time after application. This is the "quick kill" action that farmers see soon after spraying.

Buprofezin, on the other hand, belongs to the Chitin Synthesis Inhibitor group. Chitin is a key structural component of the insect's outer shell or exoskeleton. Young hoppers (nymphs) need to shed their old exoskeleton and form a new one as they grow — a process called moulting. Buprofezin blocks the formation of new chitin, so when nymphs try to moult, they cannot form a proper new exoskeleton. This causes them to die during the moulting process. Since Buprofezin does not kill adult insects directly, its effect is slower but more sustained — it prevents the next generation of hoppers from developing.

Together, Fenobucarb provides immediate control of the current infestation (adults), while Buprofezin ensures that young nymphs cannot grow into egg-laying adults, giving longer-lasting protection. Recommended Dosage & Application

Note: Use the higher dosage (816 ml/acre) when infestation is severe. Always shake the product well before use as it is a suspension emulsion formulation.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

1. Check the field — Inspect rice fields for hopper infestation. Look for nymphs and adults at the base of plants.
2. Choose the right pack size — Select the pack size based on the area to be treated (400 ml for small areas, 800 ml or larger for bigger fields).
3. Shake well — Shake the bottle thoroughly before opening to ensure the suspension emulsion is properly mixed.
4. Mix with water — Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the measured quantity of Crystal Snapper. Mix well. Add remaining water and stir again.
5. Spray evenly — Apply the mixture as a foliar spray. Ensure good coverage on the lower stems and base of rice plants where hoppers hide and feed.
6. Clean equipment — After spraying, rinse the spray tank and nozzles thoroughly with clean water.
7. Observe after application — Monitor the field after 3–5 days to check control levels. A second application may be needed if infestation persists, based on local recommendations.
