Darrick Troll is a selective, systemic herbicide specially developed for effective weed control in paddy fields. It contains Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl 10% WP (Wettable Powder), an active ingredient from the sulfonylurea chemical group. Troll works by inhibiting the ALS enzyme in weeds, which blocks the production of essential amino acids like valine and isoleucine. This stops weed cell division and growth, keeping your field clean and healthy.
Troll is absorbed by both the roots and leaves of weeds and then moves to the growing points (meristems), giving strong control of broadleaf weeds, sedges, and grasses. It is safe for rice seedlings and beneficial soil microorganisms, and can be used in both nursery and main field stages of paddy. By reducing weed competition, Troll supports greener, more vigorous paddy crops and helps protect your yield.
This herbicide is available in an 80 gm pouch with a green powder formulation and offers a shelf life of 2 years. It is a pre-emergence systemic weedicide used in paddy to control grasses and broadleaf weeds from the beginning of the crop cycle.
Key Benefits
- Selective herbicide that is safe for rice seedlings and does not harm the main crop.
- Controls a wide range of weeds including broadleaf weeds, sedges, and grasses in paddy fields.
- Works in both nursery and main field stages, giving flexible weed management.
- Systemic action moves inside the weed to stop growth at the root level.
- Safe for beneficial soil microorganisms, supporting healthy soil.
- Low dose per acre makes it an economical weed control option.
- Reduces manual weeding effort and cost in paddy cultivation.
How It Works
Darrick Troll contains Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl, which belongs to the sulfonylurea group of herbicides. It works by inhibiting the ALS (Acetolactate Synthase) enzyme in weeds. This enzyme is essential for producing amino acids such as valine and isoleucine, which weeds need for cell division and normal growth. When this enzyme is blocked, the weed cannot make these amino acids, so its growth stops and the weed eventually dies.
Troll is systemic in nature, meaning it is absorbed by both the roots and the leaves of the weed. Once absorbed, it moves through the plant to the growing points (meristems), where new cells are formed. This ensures that even weeds with deep roots are controlled effectively. Because the product acts on the weed's own growth system, it remains selective and does not harm rice seedlings when used at the recommended dose.

Recommended Dosage & Application
Darrick Troll is applied as a pre-emergence herbicide in paddy. The dosage and method depend on the application stage and equipment used.
| Application Method | Dosage | Water Volume |
|---|---|---|
| Field spraying (per acre) | 80 g per acre | 200–240 L water |
| Knapsack pump | 8 g per 15 litres | 15 L water |
| General mixing | 0.5 g per litre | Clean water |
For transplanted rice, apply 3–7 days after transplanting. For direct-seeded rice, apply 5–10 days before sowing. Stir the mixture well and spray evenly over the weed foliage.
When to Use
Darrick Troll is a pre-emergence herbicide, so timing is important for best results. Use it at the early stage of weed growth, before weeds become established and compete with the paddy crop.
- In transplanted rice: apply 3–7 days after transplanting.
- In direct-seeded rice: apply 5–10 days before sowing.
- Use when weed pressure is high, especially grassy and broadleaf weeds.
- Apply when soil moisture is adequate for the herbicide to reach weed roots.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Wear gloves, a mask, and protective clothing before handling the product.
- Measure the correct dose. For field spraying, use 80 g per acre with 200–240 L of water.
