Green Label Herbicide is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide from Insecticides (India) Limited, specially designed for effective weed management in paddy (rice) fields. It contains Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC (Suspension Concentrate) as its active ingredient, which provides reliable post-emergence control of a wide range of weeds including grassy weeds, sedges, and broadleaf weeds commonly found in paddy cultivation.

This herbicide works systemically, meaning it is absorbed by the weeds and moves throughout the plant to deliver complete control from roots to shoots. Green Label is known for its fast-killing action and is safe for the environment when used as per recommended guidelines. It is classified under the Blue toxicity category, indicating relatively low toxicity when handled properly. Farmers growing paddy can rely on Green Label Herbicide for clean fields, reduced weed competition, and better crop yields.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum control of grassy weeds, sedges, and broadleaf weeds in a single application
  • Systemic action ensures complete weed control by reaching roots and growing points
  • Fast-killing action shows visible results quickly after application
  • Safe for the environment when used as per recommended guidelines
  • Blue toxicity classification means relatively safer handling compared to many other herbicides
  • Specifically formulated for paddy crop, giving targeted and effective weed management
  • Easy-to-use Suspension Concentrate (SC) formulation mixes well with water

How It Works

Green Label Herbicide contains Bispyribac Sodium, which belongs to the pyrimidinyl carboxy herbicide group. It is a systemic herbicide, meaning once applied as a foliar spray on the weeds, it is quickly absorbed through the leaves and stems. From there, it moves throughout the weed plant through the vascular system, reaching the roots, shoots, and growing points.

The active ingredient works by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is essential for the production of branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine) in weeds. Without these amino acids, the weed plants cannot produce proteins needed for growth and development. Within a few days of application, weed growth stops completely, and the weeds start showing visible symptoms like yellowing, stunting, and eventually die-off. Because of its systemic movement, even weeds that are partially covered during spraying get controlled as the chemical moves through the plant.

Target Weeds

Grassy Weeds: Barnyard grass (Echinochloa crusgalli, Echinochloa colonum), Wild rice

Sedges: Purple nutsedge, Yellow nutsedge

Broadleaf Weeds: False daisy, Spiny amaranth

Recommended Dosage & Application

  • Dosage: 100 ml per acre
  • Method of Application: Foliar spray
  • Water Volume: Mix the recommended dose in sufficient water for uniform coverage (typically 150-200 litres of water per acre for knapsack sprayer)

When to Use

Green Label Herbicide is a post-emergence herbicide, meaning it should be applied after the weeds have emerged and are actively growing. For best results in paddy fields, apply the herbicide when weeds are at the 2-4 leaf stage and are actively growing. The crop should be at an appropriate stage where it can tolerate the herbicide application. Apply after draining out the irrigated water from the field. Do not apply the product by mixing with sand, fertilizer, or through any other method — only use as a foliar spray with water.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Drain the field: Before application, drain out all standing water from the paddy field completely.
  2. Prepare the spray solution: Measure 100 ml of Green Label Herbicide per acre. Mix the required quantity in a small amount of water first to make a slurry, then add to the full volume of water (150-200 litres per acre) in the spray tank. Stir well.
  3. Spray application: Apply the mixture as a uniform foliar spray over the weeds. Ensure good coverage of all weed foliage. Use a knapsack sprayer with a flat fan or flood jet nozzle for best results.
  4. Post-application irrigation: After spraying, wait for 2-3 days before re-irrigating the field.
  5. Maintain water level: Once re-irrigated, maintain a thin layer of standing water in the field for the next 7 days for best weed control results.

Precautions & Safety

  • Do not mix Green Label Herbicide with sand, fertilizer, or any other material — only mix with water for foliar spray
  • Wear protective clothing, gloves, and mask while handling and spraying the herbicide
  • Avoid spray drift to neighbouring crops, water bodies, and non-target areas
  • Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and children's reach
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling or spraying the product
  • Dispose of empty containers safely — do not reuse for any purpose

PHI / REI & Storage

  • Re-irrigation: Re-irrigate the field 2-3 days after application
  • Water maintenance: Maintain standing water for 7 days after re-irrigation for best results
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat sources
