HPM Boson is a powerful systemic herbicide manufactured by HPM Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., containing Chlorimuron Ethyl 25% WP (Wettable Powder). It belongs to the Sulfonylurea chemical group and works as an ALS inhibitor (Group 2), making it highly effective against tough broadleaf weeds and sedges in Soybean fields.

This post-emergence herbicide is designed specifically for the Indian Kharif season. It is rapidly absorbed by weed leaves and roots, then translocated to the growing points where it blocks essential amino acid production. Weeds stop growing within hours and show visible signs of dying within 7–14 days. The product offers excellent crop safety as Soybean plants naturally metabolize and detoxify the chemical, keeping the crop healthy while weeds are controlled.

HPM Boson works at very low dosages, reducing the chemical load on your field. With rapid rainfastness of just 1 hour, it is ideal for monsoon season use. Each pack contains 1 litre of formulation, and the product carries a Blue / Caution toxicity label — safe when used as directed with proper precautions.

Key Benefits

  • Rapid action: Weeds stop growing within hours of application as the chemical targets their enzyme systems
  • High crop safety: Soybean plants naturally metabolize and detoxify the chemical, keeping the crop healthy while weeds die
  • Systemic control: Absorbed by both leaves and roots, travels to weed growing points to prevent regrowth
  • 1-hour rainfastness: Formula sticks and absorbs quickly, making it ideal for the rainy monsoon season
  • Low dosage efficiency: Highly potent formulation requires only small quantity per acre, reducing chemical load on the field
  • Cost-effective weed management: Provides reliable post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds and sedges at an economical dose

How It Works

HPM Boson works by disrupting the internal "manufacturing plant" of the weed. It is a systemic herbicide that moves through the plant's fluids (xylem and phloem).

Step 1 – Absorption: Upon spraying, the chemical is rapidly absorbed by the weed's foliage (leaves) and roots.

Step 2 – Translocation: It travels to the meristematic regions (the growing tips) of the plant where active growth occurs.

Step 3 – Enzyme Blockage: It inhibits the ALS (Acetolactate Synthase) enzyme. This blocks the production of essential amino acids (Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine), causing the weed to starve and die within 7–14 days.

While weeds stop growing immediately after application, visual symptoms like yellowing (chlorosis) and browning (necrosis) may take about a week to appear. The Soybean crop remains safe because it can naturally break down the chemical.

Recommended Dosage & Application

Important: Always follow the "Dose per Acre" for accurate results. Overdosing can stress the crop.

CropDose (g / Acre)Water (L / Acre)Dose (g / Litre)PHI (Days)
Soybean20 – 25 g (Formulation)200 – 240 L~0.1 gSee Label

Note: The recommended dose is 15g of Active Ingredient per acre, which translates to roughly 20–25g of the powder product.

When to Use

Apply HPM Boson as a post-emergence spray, between 15 to 25 days after sowing (DAS) the Soybean crop. This is the ideal window when weeds are in the 2–4 leaf stage — the most vulnerable phase for effective kill.

Ensure adequate soil moisture is present at the time of spraying for best results. Do not spray if the crop is under stress from drought or flood conditions. The product is rainfast within 1 hour, so light rain after that will not reduce efficacy.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare the sprayer: Use a Knapsack Sprayer fitted with a Flat-Fan nozzle to ensure even distribution on weed leaves.
  2. Mix the solution: Add the recommended dose (20–25 g per acre) to the required water volume (200–240 L per acre). Mix thoroughly until the powder dissolves completely.
  3. Check soil moisture: Ensure the field has adequate moisture. Do not spray during drought or waterlogged conditions.
  4. Spray evenly: Apply the mixture uniformly over the crop, ensuring good coverage on weed foliage.
  5. Post-application: The product is rainfast within 1 hour. Avoid entering the field until the spray has dried.
  6. Clean up: Wash the sprayer thoroughly after use. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water.

Precautions & Safety

  • Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) — gloves, mask, and goggles during mixing and spraying
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product
  • Keep the product away from children, pets, and livestock
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from food and animal feed
  • Avoid spray drift to nearby non-target crops and water bodies
  • Wash hands and face thoroughly with soap and water after use
  • Dispose of empty containers safely — do not reuse for any purpose

Side Effects & Phytotoxicity

Overdosing can stress the Soybean crop. Always follow the recommended dose per acre. Do not spray if the crop is already under stress from drought, flood, or pest damage. Soybean plants naturally metabolize the chemical, providing good crop safety when used as directed.

PHI / REI & Storage

  • PHI (Pre-Harvest Interval): Refer to the product label for crop-specific PHI
  • Rainfastness: 1 hour after application
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep away from food, feed, and drinking water
