Product Overview

HPM Cultivo is a broad-spectrum fungicide that combines two powerful active ingredients — Tebuconazole 10% and Sulphur 65% — in a Water Dispersible Granule (WG) formulation. This unique combination provides both systemic and contact action, giving farmers preventive, curative, and eradicative control over a wide range of fungal diseases.

Cultivo is highly effective against diseases like powdery mildew, fruit rot in Chilli, leaf spot and pod blight in Soybean, and scab in Apple and Pear. The dual-mode action not only stops fungal infections from spreading but also offers secondary acaricidal (mite control) benefits due to the high sulphur content. Manufactured by HPM Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd., a trusted name in Indian agriculture for over 40 years, Cultivo is a reliable choice for farmers looking for comprehensive disease management in vegetables and fruit crops.

The WG formulation makes it easy to mix and apply as a foliar spray. It is quickly absorbed into the plant system while also forming a protective layer on the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection. With a recommended dosage of 500 gm per acre, Cultivo delivers excellent value and effective disease control for healthier crops and better yields.

Key Benefits

  • Dual-action protection: Combines systemic (Tebuconazole) and contact (Sulphur) action for complete disease control — inside the plant and on the surface.
  • Broad-spectrum disease control: Effectively manages powdery mildew, fruit rot, leaf spot, pod blight, and scab across multiple crops.
  • Preventive and curative action: Works as a protective shield before disease appears and also stops existing infections from spreading.
  • Built-in mite control: The 65% Sulphur content provides secondary acaricidal activity, helping manage mite populations alongside fungal diseases.
  • Resistance management: Two active ingredients with different modes of action reduce the risk of fungi developing resistance.
  • Improves crop health: Sulphur acts as an essential micronutrient, supporting better plant vigour, greener foliage, and improved yield quality.
  • Easy-to-use WG formulation: Water Dispersible Granules mix easily in water, creating a uniform spray solution with minimal dust.

How It Works

HPM Cultivo works through two distinct modes of action that complement each other for complete disease control.

Tebuconazole (Systemic action): Once sprayed, Tebuconazole is quickly absorbed by the plant and moves upward (acropetally) through the vascular system. It works as a sterol demethylation inhibitor (DMI) — it blocks the production of ergosterol, which is a critical component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungus cannot maintain its cell structure, causing it to collapse and die. This systemic movement ensures that even parts of the plant not directly sprayed receive protection from within.

Sulphur (Contact and vapour action): Sulphur remains on the plant surface and acts as a contact fungicide. It interferes with the respiration process of fungal spores, preventing them from germinating and growing. Sulphur also releases vapours that create a protective zone around the plant, offering additional coverage against airborne fungal spores.

Together, these two active ingredients create a synergistic effect — providing stronger and more reliable disease control than either ingredient used alone. The systemic component treats infections inside the plant, while the contact component prevents new spores from settling and growing on the surface.

Application method: Apply as a foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat fan nozzle. Ensure uniform coverage over the entire crop canopy for best results.

When to Use

Apply HPM Cultivo as a preventive spray before disease symptoms appear, especially when weather conditions are favourable for fungal infections — such as high humidity, cloudy weather, or dew formation. For best results, start spraying at the first sign of disease symptoms like white powdery growth on leaves (powdery mildew), spots on leaves (leaf spot), or rotting on fruits (fruit rot).

In Chilli, watch for powdery mildew during the flowering and fruiting stages. In Soybean, apply during the vegetative to pod formation stages when leaf spot or pod blight is expected. For Apple and Pear, apply before or during the early stages of scab infection, particularly during the monsoon or humid season.

Repeat applications may be needed depending on disease pressure and environmental conditions. Always follow the recommended dosage and interval as per the product label.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water.
  2. Premix the granules: In a separate small container, mix the required quantity of Cultivo granules with a little water to form a smooth slurry. This ensures the granules dissolve evenly.
  3. Add to tank: Pour the slurry into the spray tank while stirring continuously.
  4. Top up water: Add the remaining water to the tank and stir well to ensure a uniform solution.
  5. Spray application: Use a knapsack sprayer with a flat fan nozzle. Apply the spray evenly over the crop canopy, ensuring thorough coverage of leaves, stems, and fruits.
  6. Clean equipment: After spraying, thoroughly rinse the spray tank and equipment with clean water.
