HPM Cyperhit-10 is a broad-spectrum, non-systemic insecticide containing Cypermethrin 10% EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate). Cypermethrin belongs to the synthetic pyrethroid chemical group and works by targeting the insect's central nervous system, causing rapid paralysis and death. It acts through both contact and stomach action, making it effective against a wide range of chewing and biting insect pests.

This insecticide is widely used across many crops including cotton, wheat, sugarcane, rice, vegetables (okra, brinjal, cabbage, cauliflower), oilseeds, maize, sunflower, coffee, and cocoa. It effectively controls major pests such as bollworms, borers (fruit, shoot, stem), diamondback moth, shootfly, Bihar caterpillar, jassids, and more. Cyperhit-10 also has applications in public health for controlling mosquitoes, cockroaches, and houseflies, as well as in animal housing and forestry.

With its long residual activity and rapid knockdown effect, Cyperhit-10 provides farmers with dependable pest control that helps protect crop quality and yield. It is a cost-effective solution due to its effectiveness at low application rates.

Key Benefits

  • Fast Knockdown Action: Quickly paralyzes and kills insects upon contact or ingestion, stopping pest damage immediately.
  • Broad-Spectrum Control: Effective against a wide range of pests including bollworms, borers, diamondback moth, jassids, shootfly, and Bihar caterpillar across multiple crops.
  • Dual Mode of Action: Works through both contact (on touch) and stomach (on ingestion) action for thorough and reliable pest control.
  • Long Residual Protection: Provides extended protection after application, reducing the need for frequent spraying and lowering overall pest pressure.
  • Multi-Crop Utility: Suitable for cotton, vegetables, cereals, oilseeds, sugarcane, coffee, cocoa, and even public health and animal housing use.
  • Cost-Effective: Effective at low dosage rates, making it an economical choice for farmers.
  • Anti-Feeding Effect: Deters insects from feeding on treated plants, reducing crop damage even before pests are killed.

How It Works

Cyperhit-10 contains Cypermethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid that acts as a neurotoxin in insects. When the insect comes into contact with or ingests the chemical, it targets the central nervous system by interfering with sodium channels in nerve cells. This causes the sodium channels to remain open, leading to continuous nerve firing. The result is rapid onset of symptoms including tremors, loss of coordination, paralysis, and eventually death — often within minutes of exposure. This is known as the "knockdown" effect.

Since Cyperhit-10 is non-systemic, it stays on the plant surface rather than being absorbed into plant tissues. This means thorough spray coverage of both upper and lower leaf surfaces is essential for effective control. The product also exhibits an anti-feeding effect, meaning insects stop feeding soon after contact, which helps reduce crop damage immediately.

When to Use

Apply Cyperhit-10 at the first appearance of insect pests or when the pest population crosses the Economic Threshold Level (ETL). Early application at the initial stages of infestation gives the best results. For best efficacy, spray during early morning or late evening when temperatures are lower and beneficial insects like bees are less active. Avoid spraying during full flowering to protect pollinators. Do not apply during high wind or rain as this can cause spray drift and wash-off, reducing effectiveness.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Check pest level: Inspect your crop and confirm that pest population has reached the threshold level before spraying.
  2. Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water. Add the recommended dose of Cyperhit-10 and stir well. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
  3. Spray application: Use a knapsack or power sprayer with a hollow cone nozzle for uniform coverage. Spray thoroughly on crop foliage, covering both upper and lower leaf surfaces where insects are active.
  4. Ensure full coverage: Since this is a contact insecticide, complete coverage of the plant canopy is essential for effective control.
  5. Post-application: Wash spray equipment thoroughly after use. Do not drain or wash equipment near water bodies, ponds, or wells.
  6. Follow waiting period: Observe the recommended Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) before harvesting the crop.

Compatibility

Cyperhit-10 is compatible with most organophosphorus insecticides. However, it is always advisable to conduct a small jar test before mixing with any new product. Do not mix with alkaline substances. Always follow the correct mixing order: wettable powders first, then liquids, and adjuvants last.

Precautions & Safety

  • Personal Protection: Always wear gloves, mask, goggles, and protective clothing while handling and spraying.
  • During Application: Avoid inhalation of spray mist and contact with skin or eyes. Do not eat, drink, or smoke while spraying.
  • After Use: Wash hands, face, and all exposed body parts thoroughly with soap and water. Change and wash contaminated clothing separately.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and drinking water. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
  • Environmental Safety: Extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life. Do not spray near ponds, rivers, or water bodies. Never wash spray equipment in water sources.
  • Bee Safety: Highly toxic to bees. Avoid spraying during flowering or when bees are actively foraging.
  • Disposal: Do not reuse empty containers. Dispose of them safely as per local regulations.

Side Effects & Phytotoxicity

Cypermethrin is classified by the US EPA as a possible human carcinogen (Group C). It is highly toxic to fish and bees and very highly toxic to aquatic insects. It has very low toxicity to birds. When used according to label directions, the product is safe for crops. However, avoid over-application as it may cause leaf burn or stress under extreme weather conditions. Newborn animals and young children may be more sensitive to cypermethrin exposure.
