HPM Dollar 4G is a ready-to-use granular insecticide containing Cartap Hydrochloride 4% in a GR (Granule) formulation. It is designed specifically for effective control of chewing and boring insect pests, especially in paddy (rice) crops. The product works through both stomach action and systemic movement within the plant, making it effective against pests that hide inside plant stems or folded leaves. Dollar 4G is particularly useful against pests that have developed resistance to organophosphorus and organochlorine insecticides, offering farmers a reliable alternative for pest management.
This granular formulation is easy to apply by broadcasting directly into the paddy field. Once applied, the granules release the active ingredient into the water and soil, where it is taken up by the plant roots and distributed systemically. Pests that feed on the treated plant stop feeding soon after ingestion, leading to starvation and eventual death. Dollar 4G provides long residual activity, meaning one application can protect the crop for an extended period. It is effective against a range of paddy pests including yellow stem borer, leaf folder, caseworm, whorl maggot, and leafhoppers. Additionally, it can be used on sugarcane for shoot borer control, and on vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, brinjal, and chilli for various caterpillar pests.
Key Benefits
- Ready-to-use granular formulation — no mixing or measuring needed, just broadcast directly in the field
- Provides long-lasting residual protection, reducing the need for frequent reapplication
- Effective against pests that have developed resistance to organophosphorus and organochlorine insecticides
- Systemic action ensures the insecticide reaches pests hiding inside stems, folded leaves, and whorls
- Stops insect feeding quickly upon ingestion, leading to starvation and pest death
- Safe and easy soil application without the need for spraying equipment
- Improves crop health and yield by protecting the plant from early to late-stage pest damage
- Effective against both chewing and sucking insects at almost any growth stage
How It Works
Cartap Hydrochloride, the active ingredient in HPM Dollar 4G, is a nerve poison that works by inhibiting neurotransmission in insects. When pests ingest the treated plant tissue, the chemical blocks the transmission of nerve signals, causing paralysis and eventually death. The product has both stomach action (works when insects eat the treated plant) and systemic properties (absorbed by plant roots and moved throughout the plant tissues). This dual action ensures that even pests hiding inside stems, leaf folds, or whorls are exposed to the insecticide when they feed. Upon ingestion, insects immediately stop feeding, which prevents further crop damage even before the pest dies. The granular formulation releases the active ingredient gradually in the field water and soil, providing sustained protection over time.

When to Use
Apply HPM Dollar 4G when pest infestation is first noticed or as a preventive measure during vulnerable crop stages. For paddy, apply during the early vegetative stage when stem borers and leaf folders begin to appear. Look for signs such as dead hearts (dried central shoots) caused by stem borers or folded leaves caused by leaf folders. For sugarcane, apply at the early shoot stage to control shoot borer. For vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, brinjal, and chilli, apply when caterpillars or borers are first observed. The product is effective at almost any stage of pest development, but early application before pest populations become severe gives the best results. Since the granules release the active ingredient gradually, one timely application can protect the crop through critical growth periods.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Identify pest infestation in the field by looking for damage symptoms such as dead hearts, folded leaves, or bore holes.
- Ensure the field has standing water (for paddy) or sufficient moisture (for other crops) to help dissolve and distribute the granules.
- Measure the required quantity — use 10 kg of Dollar 4G per acre.
- Wear gloves while handling the granules to avoid direct skin contact.
- Broadcast the granules evenly across the entire field by hand or using a granule applicator.
- For paddy, ensure the granules fall into the water so they can dissolve and be absorbed by plant roots.
- After application, maintain normal irrigation practices. Do not drain the field immediately.
- Monitor the field after 5-7 days to check for reduction in pest activity.
- Store unused product in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and children.
