HPM Ghajini is a powerful systemic insecticide containing Imidacloprid 70% WG (Water Dispersible Granules). It is specially designed to control a wide range of sucking pests that damage crops by feeding on plant sap. This includes pests like aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, leafhoppers, and plant hoppers. Ghajini is highly effective on major crops such as cotton, rice, vegetables, sugarcane, groundnut, soybean, pulses, and fruits.

The product works through both systemic and contact action. Once sprayed, it is quickly absorbed by the plant and moves to all parts including leaves, stems, and roots. When sucking pests feed on the treated plant sap, they ingest the chemical, which attacks their nervous system and causes paralysis and death. This dual action ensures that even hidden pests on the underside of leaves are controlled. The WG formulation is dust-free, dissolves easily in water, and is safer to handle compared to older powder formulations.

HPM Ghajini is suitable for use in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs because it does not target beneficial organisms when used as per recommendations. It provides long-lasting protection at low dosages, making it a cost-effective choice for farmers. The product is manufactured by HPM Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd., a trusted name in Indian agriculture.

Key Benefits

  • Provides quick knockdown of sucking pests by attacking their nervous system, stopping feeding almost immediately
  • Systemic action ensures the chemical spreads throughout the plant, protecting new growth and hidden areas
  • Long-lasting residual control means fewer sprays are needed across the season, saving time and labour
  • Works effectively at low dosages, reducing the cost per application for farmers
  • WG formulation is dust-free, dissolves completely in water, and does not clog spray nozzles
  • Suitable for IPM programs as it does not harm beneficial insects when used correctly
  • Effective against both foliar sucking pests and soil insects like termites
  • Rainfast within a few hours after application once dried, providing reliable protection

How It Works

HPM Ghajini contains Imidacloprid, which belongs to the neonicotinoid chemical group (IRAC Group 4A). It acts as a powerful neurotoxin that specifically targets the central nervous system of insects. When the product is sprayed on crops, it is rapidly absorbed by the plant's leaves and roots through systemic action. The chemical then spreads to all plant tissues including stems, leaves, and even roots.

When sucking pests like aphids, jassids, or whiteflies feed on the sap of the treated plant, they ingest the Imidacloprid. Once inside the insect's body, the chemical binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the nervous system. This blocks the normal transmission of nerve impulses, causing the insect to stop feeding immediately. The pest then becomes paralyzed and eventually dies due to nervous system failure. Because of its systemic nature, the product continues to protect the plant from new pest attacks for an extended period. The contact action also kills pests that come in direct contact with the spray droplets.

Note: For foliar spray, mix the recommended quantity in the specified amount of water and spray uniformly. For soil application against termites, use 50-100 g per 100 litres of water as drenching or mix in soil at sowing. Always follow the dose per acre for accurate results. Dosage may vary based on pest intensity and local recommendations.

When to Use

Apply HPM Ghajini as soon as the pest population crosses the Economic Threshold Level (ETL). Early application when pests first appear gives the best results and prevents the infestation from spreading. For sucking pests, the ideal time is during the early vegetative and flowering stages of the crop when these pests are most active. In rice, apply when you notice brown plant hoppers or leafhoppers in the field. In cotton, apply at the first sign of aphids, jassids, or thrips on young leaves. For vegetables, apply during early growth stages when whiteflies and aphids begin to appear on the underside of leaves. Avoid spraying during heavy rainfall or extreme heat. The product becomes rainfast within a few hours after application once the spray has dried on the foliage.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Check pest level: Inspect your crop and confirm that pest population has crossed the threshold level before spraying.
  2. Prepare the spray solution: Take the required quantity of HPM Ghajini granules (30-35 g per acre) in a small container. Add a little water and stir well to make a paste or solution.
  3. Mix in main tank: Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the dissolved solution and mix thoroughly. Then add the remaining water and stir again.
  4. Spray uniformly: Use a knapsack sprayer and ensure thorough coverage of the crop. Pay special attention to the underside of leaves where sucking pests usually hide.
  5. Timing: Spray during early morning or late evening when temperatures are lower and pests are more active.
  6. Post-application: Wash the spray equipment thoroughly after use. Do not enter the field until the spray has dried completely.

Compatibility

HPM Ghajini is generally compatible with most common fungicides and insecticides. However, it is always advisable to perform a small jar test before tank mixing with other agrochemicals to check for any physical incompatibility. Mix in the correct sequence: wettable powders first, then WG formulations, then liquids, and finally adjuvants if needed.
