HPM Hi-Imida is a broad-spectrum systemic insecticide containing Imidacloprid 17.8% SL (Soluble Liquid). It is designed to effectively control a wide range of sucking pests and certain chewing insects in major Indian crops. This insecticide belongs to the neonicotinoid chemical group and works by interfering with the nervous system of insects, leading to paralysis and death.

Hi-Imida is widely used on crops such as cotton, paddy (rice), chilli, sugarcane, mango, and various vegetables. It targets pests including aphids, jassids, whiteflies, thrips, brown plant hoppers, termites, and leaf miners. The product offers long-lasting residual activity and can be applied as a foliar spray, soil drench, or stem treatment. Its systemic action ensures that the active ingredient is absorbed by the plant and distributed throughout its tissues, providing protection even to new growth. HPM Hi-Imida is also suitable for use in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and is effective even at lower dosages, making it a cost-effective choice for farmers.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum pest control: Effectively controls a wide range of sucking pests including aphids, jassids, whiteflies, thrips, brown plant hoppers, and termites in one application.
  • Systemic & long-lasting protection: Absorbed by the plant and distributed internally, providing protection for up to 10–14 days after application.
  • Cost-effective at low dosages: Delivers effective pest control even at lower application rates, reducing the need for frequent sprays and lowering overall input costs.
  • Multiple application methods: Can be used as a foliar spray, soil drench, stem paint, or seed treatment, offering flexibility based on crop and pest type.
  • IPM compatible: Suitable for use in Integrated Pest Management programs, supporting sustainable and responsible farming practices.
  • Good plant compatibility: Safe on crops when used at recommended dosages, with excellent biological efficacy and minimal phytotoxicity risk.

How It Works

HPM Hi-Imida contains Imidacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide that acts on the central nervous system of insects. When applied to the plant, it is absorbed through the roots and leaves and moves upward (acropetally) through the plant's vascular system. This systemic movement ensures that the active ingredient reaches all parts of the plant, including new growth, providing thorough protection.

Once ingested or contacted by target pests, Imidacloprid binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect's nervous system. This overstimulates the nerve cells, causing continuous nerve firing, which leads to paralysis and eventually death. The product works through both contact and stomach action, meaning it kills pests that come into direct contact with the spray as well as those that feed on treated plant tissues. Its translaminar movement allows it to penetrate leaf surfaces, reaching pests hiding on the underside of leaves. The combination of systemic, contact, and stomach activity makes Hi-Imida highly effective against sucking pests that are often difficult to control with contact-only insecticides.

When to Use

Apply HPM Hi-Imida at the first sign of pest infestation for best results. Early application when pest populations are low provides more effective and longer-lasting control. For preventive treatment, apply during favourable conditions for pest buildup such as warm and humid weather. On paddy, apply when brown plant hopper nymphs are first observed. On cotton and chilli, apply when jassids, aphids, or thrips appear on young leaves and shoots. For sugarcane, apply as a soil treatment at planting or around the base of the crop to control termites. On mango, apply during the flowering and fruiting stage when hopper populations are active. The product is most effective when applied during the early morning or late evening hours to avoid heat stress and ensure better leaf coverage.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Read the label: Carefully read the product label and instructions before use.
  2. Wear protective gear: Put on gloves, a mask, and protective clothing before handling the product.
  3. Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water. Add the measured quantity of HPM Hi-Imida as per the recommended dosage for your crop. Mix thoroughly. Add the remaining water and stir well.
  4. Apply evenly: Spray the solution evenly on the crop foliage, ensuring good coverage of the undersides of leaves where sucking pests often hide. For soil application, drench the root zone area.
  5. Clean equipment: After spraying, thoroughly wash all spray equipment with clean water. Do not dispose of wash water near water bodies.
  6. Post-application hygiene: Wash hands, face, and any exposed skin with soap and water immediately after handling or spraying.

Compatibility

HPM Hi-Imida is compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides. However, it should not be mixed with strong alkaline substances or materials with high pH. It is always advisable to perform a small jar test before mixing with any new agrochemical to check for physical compatibility. When tank-mixing, follow the correct mixing order: fill the tank with water first, add wettable powders or dispersible granules first, then suspension concentrates, and finally soluble liquids like Hi-Imida.
