Product Overview

HPM Phoenix is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide containing Propiconazole 25% EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate). It belongs to the triazole group of fungicides and is designed to protect crops from a wide range of fungal diseases. Phoenix works as a protectant, curative, and eradicant fungicide, giving farmers flexible options to manage disease at different stages of infection.

This fungicide is effective against major fungal diseases including rusts (leaf rust, stem rust, stripe rust), bunts (Karnal bunt), sheath blight, leaf spots, blister blight, and Sigatoka leaf spot. It is suitable for use on important Indian crops such as wheat, rice, groundnut, tea, soybean, banana, and coffee. The systemic action of Phoenix ensures that the active ingredient moves within the plant tissue for uniform protection and is not easily washed off by rain.

With its strong antisporulant effect, Phoenix not only controls existing infections but also prevents the formation of new fungal spores, reducing the chance of reinfection. This makes it a reliable choice for farmers looking to protect their crop yield and grain quality throughout the growing season.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum disease control: Effective against rusts, bunts, blights, leaf spots, and Sigatoka leaf spot across multiple crops.
  • Triple-action protection: Works as a protectant (prevents infection), curative (stops active disease), and eradicant (eliminates established fungi).
  • Systemic movement: Quickly absorbed and translocated within the plant for uniform, lasting protection that resists wash-off.
  • Strong antisporulant effect: Prevents fungal spore formation, reducing the risk of reinfection and disease spread.
  • Long duration of control: Provides extended protection, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
  • Crop safety: Safe for use on a wide range of crops when applied at the recommended dosage.
  • Rainfast properties: Systemic translocation keeps the active ingredient inside plant tissue, making it resistant to wash-off by rain.

How It Works

HPM Phoenix contains Propiconazole, a systemic fungicide from the triazole group. It works by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis in fungi. Ergosterol is a key component of fungal cell membranes. When ergosterol production is disrupted, the fungal cell membrane becomes weak and cannot function properly. This stops fungal growth and eventually kills the fungus.

Phoenix is absorbed by the leaves and stems of the plant and moves upward (acropetally) through the xylem tissue. This systemic movement ensures that the active ingredient reaches all parts of the plant, including new growth, providing complete protection. Because the fungicide moves inside the plant tissue, it is not easily washed off by rain or irrigation water.

The product offers three types of action: it protects healthy plant tissue from new infections (protectant), stops the growth of fungi that have already infected the plant (curative), and eliminates established fungal colonies (eradicant). The strong antisporulant action also prevents the fungus from producing spores, which helps break the disease cycle and reduces the chance of the disease spreading to nearby plants.

Application Method: Mix the recommended quantity of Phoenix in sufficient water (typically 150-200 litres per acre) and apply as a foliar spray ensuring uniform coverage of the crop canopy.

When to Use

Apply HPM Phoenix as a foliar spray at the initial appearance of disease symptoms or as a preventive measure when weather conditions are favourable for disease development. Early application gives the best results as the fungicide can protect healthy tissue and stop the disease before it spreads widely.

For preventive use, apply before the onset of monsoon or during periods of high humidity when fungal diseases are most active. For curative use, apply as soon as the first signs of disease are noticed on leaves, stems, or grains. The systemic action of Phoenix allows it to reach infections that have already started inside the plant tissue.

Regular scouting of fields is recommended to identify disease symptoms early. Repeat applications may be needed depending on disease pressure and crop duration. Always follow the recommended dosage and interval between sprays as per the product label.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Check disease symptoms: Inspect the crop for early signs of rust, blight, leaf spot, or bunt before spraying.
  2. Calculate the quantity: Measure the required amount of Phoenix based on the crop area. Use 200 ml per acre.
  3. Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water. Add the measured Phoenix and mix well. Add the remaining water and stir thoroughly.
  4. Spray evenly: Apply the mixture as a foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer or power sprayer. Ensure uniform coverage on all plant parts, especially the leaves and stems.
  5. Clean equipment: After spraying, rinse the spray tank and equipment thoroughly with clean water. Do not dispose of rinse water near water bodies.
  6. Follow safety measures: Wear gloves, mask, and protective clothing while handling and spraying the product. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking during application.

Precautions & Safety

  • Wear protective gloves, mask, goggles, and full-sleeve clothing while handling and spraying Phoenix.
  • Avoid inhalation of spray mist and contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during mixing and application.
  • Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after spraying.
  • Keep the product away from children, pets, and livestock.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, food, and animal feed.
  • Avoid spray drift to nearby water bodies, non-target crops, and flowering plants.
  • Do not use empty containers for storing food or water. Dispose of them safely.
