HPM Super Sonata is a bio-organic plant growth regulator (PGR) and plant energizer formulated by HPM Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. It combines natural seaweed extracts (derived from Gelidium red algae), amino acids, natural vitamins, and essential micronutrients into a soluble liquid concentrate. Unlike synthetic chemical tonics, Super Sonata works with the plant's natural physiology to promote healthier growth, better flowering, and improved fruit and grain quality.
This product is designed to address common field problems that reduce farmer income — such as excessive flower drop, poor fruit set, uneven ripening, chaffy grains, and yield loss caused by environmental stress. It helps crops withstand heat, drought, high humidity, frost, and heavy rain. Super Sonata is suitable for all types of crops including cotton, chilli, paddy (rice), vegetables, fruits, cereals, and plantation crops. It is classified as a bio-organic formulation with a Green/Blue toxicity label, making it safe for beneficial insects and suitable for use in residue-free and export-quality production.
Farmers can apply Super Sonata as a foliar spray at a standard dose of 250 ml per acre (2 ml per litre of water). It is compatible with most commonly used pesticides and can be easily integrated into regular spray schedules. The product is available in multiple pack sizes including 50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, and 1 litre.
Key Benefits
- Reduces flower and fruit drop: Strengthens the connection between flowers and stems, significantly reducing shedding in cotton, chilli, tomato, and other crops.
- Improves fruit and grain quality: Enhances size, shape, weight, colour, shine, and overall market appearance of produce.
- Increases stress tolerance: Helps crops survive extreme temperatures, drought, high humidity, frost, and heavy rainfall through natural antioxidant defense.
- Promotes uniform growth and ripening: Ensures even development across plants and uniform ripening of fruits and grains for better harvest timing.
- Strengthens natural immunity: Enhances the plant's own defense against common pests and diseases, reducing dependence on chemical pesticides.
- Boosts yield significantly: By improving flowering, fruit set, and grain filling, Super Sonata helps farmers achieve higher productivity per acre.
- Zero residue – safe for export crops: Bio-organic formulation leaves no harmful chemical residues, making it ideal for export-quality grapes, rice, and vegetables.
How It Works
HPM Super Sonata works at the cellular level through three key mechanisms that together optimize plant performance:
1. Abscission Inhibition (Stops Flower Drop): The natural plant hormones and bioactive compounds in Super Sonata regulate auxin levels at the base of the flower (the pedicel). This prevents the formation of the "abscission layer" — the separation zone that causes flowers and young fruits to fall off the plant. By keeping flowers and young fruits firmly attached, the plant retains more fruiting sites for a higher yield.
2. Cellular Elongation (Better Fruit & Grain Development): The natural peptides and growth-promoting substances trigger cell division and cell expansion in developing fruits and grains. This leads to longer, shapelier fruits (better "typiness" in chillies), larger grain size in paddy and wheat, and improved overall weight and appearance of the produce.
3. Antioxidant Defense (Stress Protection): The amino acids (including Proline) and vitamins in Super Sonata help neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) — harmful molecules that build up in plant cells during heat, drought, or waterlogging stress. By protecting cell membranes and maintaining metabolic activity under stress, the product keeps the plant productive even in challenging weather conditions.
This multi-action approach effectively turns the crop into a productive "sink," drawing more nutrients from the leaves into the developing fruits and grains for maximum output.

When to Use
For best results, apply Super Sonata at key growth stages when the plant needs maximum support for flowering, fruit set, and grain development:
- Cotton: Apply at square formation stage (around 45 days after sowing) and again at peak flowering stage.
- Chilli & Tomato: Start at the first sign of flowering and repeat every 15–20 days during the flowering and fruiting period.
- Paddy (Rice): Apply at panicle initiation and flowering stages for better grain filling and reduced chaffiness.
- Fruit crops (Mango, Banana, Citrus, Grapes): Apply every 20–25 days during flowering and fruit development stages.
- Field crops (Wheat, Maize, Sugarcane): Apply at vegetative growth and flowering stages.
- Vegetables: Apply twice — once during early growth and again at flowering stage.
Super Sonata is especially valuable when crops face environmental stress such as unseasonal rain, heatwaves, or drought. Using it before or during stress periods helps the plant maintain productivity.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water.
- Measure the correct dose: Use 2 ml of Super Sonata per litre of water. For one acre, use 250 ml in 125–200 litres of water.
- Mix thoroughly: Add the measured Super Sonata to the tank and stir or shake well until fully dissolved.
- Add other products (if any): If mixing with other pesticides or fungicides, add Super Sonata to the tank LAST after all other products have been mixed.
- Fill remaining water: Add the remaining water and mix again to ensure uniform solution.
- Spray evenly: Apply as a foliar spray ensuring complete coverage of leaves, flower buds, and developing fruits/grains.
- Timing: Spray during early morning or late afternoon to avoid intense sunlight and maximize absorption.
- Clean equipment: Wash sprayer thoroughly with clean water after use.
Compatibility
Super Sonata is compatible with most commonly used pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers. However, follow these guidelines for safe mixing:
- Mixing order: Always add Super Sonata to the spray tank LAST, after all other products have been mixed and dissolved.
- Avoid with: Do not mix with highly alkaline products such as Bordeaux mixture or copper-based fungicides.
- Jar test recommended: If mixing with a product for the first time, do a small jar test to check for any physical incompatibility (clotting, separation, or settling).
Precautions & Safety
- Personal protection: Wear gloves, mask, and goggles while handling and spraying the product.
- Hygiene: Wash hands and face thoroughly with soap and water after use.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep away from food: Do not store near food items, animal feed, or drinking water.
- Environmental care: Avoid spray drift onto water bodies, ponds, or non-target areas.
- Disposal: Do not reuse empty containers. Dispose of them safely as per local guidelines.
