HPM Super Sonic is a ready-to-use granular insecticide that combines two powerful active ingredients — Thiamethoxam 0.9% and Fipronil 0.2% — in a GR (Granule) formulation. This product is designed for broad-spectrum control of both soil-dwelling and above-ground insect pests. It is particularly effective against white grubs, termites, aphids, whiteflies, beetles, thrips, and leafhoppers across a wide range of crops including groundnut, potato, cereals, vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals.
The dual-action formulation works in two ways. Thiamethoxam belongs to the neonicotinoid class and acts as a systemic insecticide — it is absorbed by the plant and moves to leaves, stems, and roots. Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide that works as a contact and stomach poison, affecting the insect's central nervous system. Together, they provide both preventive and curative protection, making Super Sonic a reliable choice for farmers dealing with persistent soil and foliar insect problems.
Applied directly to the soil, Super Sonic granules offer long-lasting residual activity. This makes it especially useful for crops like groundnut and potato where white grubs and termites cause significant damage to roots and tubers. The product is easy to apply and provides consistent results when used at the recommended dose.
Key Benefits
- Broad-spectrum control — Effective against a wide range of pests including white grubs, termites, aphids, whiteflies, beetles, thrips, and leafhoppers in one application.
- Dual-action protection — Two active ingredients work together to provide both systemic (plant-absorbed) and contact/stomach poison action for more complete pest control.
- Long-lasting residual activity — Granules remain active in the soil for an extended period, reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
- Effective against soil-dwelling pests — Specifically targets pests that attack roots and underground plant parts, such as white grubs and termites, which are hard to control with foliar sprays.
- Preventive and curative action — Protects healthy plants from infestation while also controlling existing pest populations in the soil.
- Easy to apply — Ready-to-use granular formulation simplifies handling and application without the need for mixing or measuring liquids.
How It Works
HPM Super Sonic uses two active ingredients with different modes of action to provide comprehensive pest control. Thiamethoxam is a systemic insecticide from the neonicotinoid group. When applied to the soil, it is absorbed by plant roots and transported upward through the plant's vascular system to leaves, stems, and other parts. Once inside the insect, it binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the nervous system, disrupting normal nerve signal transmission. This causes uncontrolled nerve firing, leading to paralysis and eventual death of the insect.
Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole class of insecticides. It works as both a contact and stomach poison. When insects come into direct contact with treated soil or consume treated plant material, Fipronil blocks GABA-gated chloride channels in the insect's central nervous system. This overstimulates the nervous system, causing tremors, convulsions, paralysis, and death. Because Fipronil remains active in the soil, it provides a protective barrier that continues to kill pests over time.
Together, these two ingredients create a synergistic effect — meaning they work better together than either would alone. Thiamethoxam protects the plant from within, while Fipronil provides soil-level protection. This dual-action approach ensures that both chewing and sucking insects, as well as soil-dwelling pests, are effectively controlled.

Application Method: Apply granules directly to the soil. For row crops, apply in furrows or around the base of plants. Ensure granules are incorporated into the soil lightly for best results. Use at the time of sowing or as a soil treatment when pest infestation is observed.
When to Use
HPM Super Sonic is most effective when applied preventively or at the early stages of pest infestation. For soil-dwelling pests like white grubs and termites, apply the granules at the time of sowing or planting. This ensures the product is present in the root zone when young plants are most vulnerable to attack.
For groundnut and potato crops, apply during land preparation or at sowing time to protect developing roots and tubers from white grub and termite damage. In case of existing infestation, apply as a curative treatment when pest activity is first noticed in the field. The long residual activity of the granules means one well-timed application can provide protection throughout the critical growth stages of the crop.
Avoid application during heavy rainfall or when heavy rain is expected within 24 hours, as this may wash away the granules from the target zone. Apply when soil moisture is adequate to help activate and distribute the active ingredients in the root zone.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check pest presence — Inspect the field for signs of white grubs, termites, or other target pests before application.
- Measure the correct dose — Use 5 kg of Super Sonic granules per acre. Weigh accurately using a weighing scale.
- Choose application time — Apply at sowing time for preventive control, or at early signs of pest infestation for curative action.
- Apply to soil — For row crops, place granules in furrows or around the base of plants. For broadcast application, spread evenly across the field.
- Lightly incorporate — Mix the granules into the top 2-3 cm of soil using a rake or light tillage to ensure contact with the root zone.
- Irrigate if needed — Light irrigation after application helps activate the granules and move the active ingredients into the soil profile.
- Wear protective gear — Use gloves and a mask while handling and applying the granules. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
- Store safely — Keep unused product in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and children.
Precautions & Safety
- Wear gloves, a face mask, and protective clothing while handling and applying the granules.
- Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin or eyes during application.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product.
- Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after application.
- Keep the product away from children, pets, and livestock.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Do not contaminate water bodies, ponds, or drainage channels during application or disposal.
- Dispose of empty packaging responsibly — do not reuse for food or feed storage.
Side Effects & Phytotoxicity
When used at the recommended dose of 5 kg/acre as per instructions, HPM Super Sonic is safe for the target crops. Avoid overdosing as excessive application may cause phytotoxicity. Do not apply in waterlogged or extremely dry soil conditions. As with all insecticides, avoid drift to non-target crops and flowering plants visited by pollinators.
