HPM Vadh CS is a new-generation synthetic pyrethroid insecticide containing Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.9% in a Capsule Suspension (CS) formulation. It is designed to provide effective control against a wide range of insect pests including bollworms, stem borers, leaf folders, fruit borers, thrips, flea beetles, and pod borers. The product works through both contact and stomach action, disrupting the insect's nervous system to cause rapid paralysis and death.

What makes Vadh CS different from older liquid (EC) sprays is its advanced capsule suspension technology. The active ingredient is locked inside tiny polymer capsules that protect it from sunlight and heat. This means the chemical stays active in the field for longer, providing residual control for up to 10-14 days. The capsules also reduce skin irritation during handling, making it safer for farmers to use. Additionally, the micro-capsules stick firmly to plant leaves, offering good rainfastness so the spray is not easily washed off by light rain.

HPM Vadh CS is suitable for use on cotton, paddy (rice), brinjal, okra, tomato, grapes, and chilli crops. It is compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides, making it a flexible choice for integrated pest management programs. The product is classified as moderately hazardous (Blue/Yellow Triangle) and belongs to IRAC Group 3A (Sodium Channel Modulators).

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum control – Effective against lepidopteran, hemipteran, and coleopteran pests including bollworms, stem borers, leaf folders, thrips, and pod borers in one spray.
  • Quick knockdown action – Visible results within 24-48 hours as the insecticide rapidly paralyzes and kills pests on contact or through ingestion.
  • Long-lasting residual protection – The CS formulation protects the active ingredient from UV breakdown, providing effective control for 10-14 days and reducing the need for frequent sprays.
  • Safer for farmers – The encapsulation technology significantly reduces skin irritation and burning sensation commonly experienced with traditional pyrethroid liquid sprays.
  • Rainfast performance – Micro-capsules stick firmly to leaf surfaces, making the spray resistant to wash-off from light rains.
  • Repellent effect – The chemical layer on treated leaves discourages adult moths from laying eggs, helping break the pest reproduction cycle.
  • Flexible tank-mix compatibility – Can be mixed with most common insecticides and fungicides for integrated pest management.

How It Works

HPM Vadh CS works as a powerful neurotoxin that attacks the central nervous system of insects. The active ingredient, Lambda Cyhalothrin, belongs to the synthetic pyrethroid group (Type II) and acts as a sodium channel modulator (IRAC Group 3A).

The product has a dual mode of action. First, through contact action – when an insect crawls over a treated leaf, the micro-capsules stick to its body, rupture, and deliver the toxin directly through the cuticle. Second, through stomach action – if a chewing pest like a bollworm eats the treated plant tissue, it ingests the capsules which break down inside its stomach and release the poison.

Once inside the insect's body, Lambda Cyhalothrin disrupts the normal function of sodium channels in nerve cells. This causes continuous nerve firing, leading to rapid paralysis (knockdown) followed by death. The CS formulation ensures that the active ingredient is released slowly over time, as the capsules protect it from degradation by sunlight (UV rays) and heat. This controlled release is what gives Vadh CS its long residual activity compared to conventional EC formulations.

The product also has a strong repellent effect. The chemical layer on treated foliage discourages adult moths and other pests from landing and laying eggs on the crop, providing an additional layer of protection beyond direct kill.

When to Use

Apply HPM Vadh CS when pest populations reach the Economic Threshold Level (ETL). For best results, spray during the early stages of pest attack before the pests enter stems or fruits. For bollworms and borers, early application is critical as once they bore into the plant, contact action becomes less effective.

For cotton, apply during the vegetative and flowering stages when bollworm and thrips pressure is high. For paddy, spray at the tillering or boot stage when stem borers and leaf folders are active. For vegetables like tomato, brinjal, and chilli, apply during early flowering and fruiting stages when fruit borers and thrips appear.

Avoid spraying during peak flowering hours to protect bees and other pollinators. If spraying is necessary during flowering, apply in the late evening when bees are not active. Do not spray in windy conditions or under strong direct sunlight to ensure proper coverage and reduce drift.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Wear protective gear – Put on gloves, a mask, and goggles before handling the product.
  2. Shake the bottle well – Shake the container thoroughly before use to ensure the capsules are evenly suspended.
  3. Prepare the spray solution – Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water. Add the measured quantity of Vadh CS as per the recommended dosage for your crop. Stir well.
  4. Top up with water – Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly to ensure uniform dilution.
  5. Spray application – Apply as a foliar spray using a flat-fan or hollow-cone nozzle. Ensure thorough coverage of the entire plant, especially the undersides of leaves where pests often hide.
  6. Maintain spray volume – Use approximately 200 litres of spray solution per acre for proper coverage.
  7. Clean equipment – After spraying, thoroughly wash the spray tank and equipment with clean water. Do not dispose of wash water near water bodies.
  8. Observe waiting period – Follow the recommended Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) for your crop before harvesting.

Compatibility

HPM Vadh CS is generally compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides. However, it is recommended to perform a small jar test before mixing with other products on a large scale. To do a jar test, mix the recommended proportions of Vadh CS and the other product in a small container of water and observe for any signs of precipitation, separation, or clumping. If the mixture remains uniform, it is safe to use.

Precautions & Safety

  • Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, mask, and goggles during handling and spraying.
  • Avoid inhalation of spray mist and direct contact with skin or eyes.
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product.
