HPM Xpert is a broad-spectrum insecticide containing Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG (Soluble Granules). It is a biologically derived compound from the avermectin family, designed to effectively control a wide range of lepidopteran pests and select sucking pests in vegetables, cotton, pulses, fruits, and plantation crops.
HPM Xpert works through both stomach and contact action. When pests ingest or come in contact with the sprayed product, it disrupts their nervous system by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), leading to paralysis and death within hours. The product has translaminar movement, meaning it penetrates into leaf tissues to reach hidden larvae feeding on the underside of leaves and new growth.
Farmers use HPM Xpert for its quick feeding stoppage — larvae stop feeding within hours of exposure and die within 2–4 days. It provides long-lasting residual protection of 10–15 days and is rainfast once dried. Importantly, it is selective in action and considered safe for beneficial insects like bees and pollinators, making it suitable for integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
Key Benefits
- Quick feeding stoppage: Larvae stop feeding within hours of application, reducing crop damage immediately.
- Broad-spectrum control: Effectively targets bollworms, fruit borers, shoot borers, pod borers, diamondback moth, tea looper, thrips, and mites across multiple crops.
- Translaminar action: Penetrates deep into leaf tissues to control hidden larvae on the underside of leaves and new growth.
- Long residual protection: Provides effective control for 10–15 days, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
- Rainfast formulation: Remains effective even after rainy weather conditions once dried on the crop.
- Safe for beneficial insects: Selective action spares pollinators and beneficial organisms, supporting ecological balance.
- Easy to use: Soluble Granules (SG) formulation disperses quickly in water for consistent spray quality.
- Better crop quality: Minimizes feeding damage leading to cleaner fruits, pods, and higher marketable yield.
How It Works
Emamectin Benzoate, the active ingredient in HPM Xpert, belongs to the avermectin family of compounds derived from natural sources. It acts as a neurotoxin by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in insects. This leads to the activation of chloride channels, causing uncontrolled ion flow that results in muscle paralysis and death.
The product has strong stomach action (primary) along with contact action. When larvae feed on treated plant surfaces, they ingest the active ingredient and quickly become paralyzed. Feeding stops within hours, although complete death may take 2–4 days. The translaminar movement of the product allows it to penetrate leaf tissues, reaching pests that are feeding on the underside of leaves or inside folded leaves — areas that surface sprays may not directly cover.
HPM Xpert is non-systemic but its translaminar property ensures deep penetration within the leaf structure. Once dried on the plant surface, it becomes rainfast and continues to provide protection against newly hatched larvae for 10–15 days under normal field conditions.

When to Use
Apply HPM Xpert at the early larval stage or at the first sign of pest infestation for maximum effectiveness. Early application ensures that young larvae are exposed to the product before they cause significant feeding damage to the crop.
For best results, spray when pest populations are low to moderate. Thorough coverage of both upper and lower leaf surfaces is essential since the product works through ingestion and contact. Avoid spraying during peak heat hours or when strong winds are present, as this can reduce spray coverage and effectiveness. Early morning or late evening application is recommended.
The product provides residual protection for 10–15 days depending on crop growth, pest pressure, and environmental conditions. Repeat applications may be needed based on pest severity and local advisory recommendations. Rotate with insecticides from different mode-of-action groups to prevent resistance development.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Prepare: Wear protective gloves, mask, and goggles before handling the product.
- Fill tank: Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water.
- Mix: Add the recommended dose of HPM Xpert granules to the water and stir thoroughly until completely dissolved.
- Top up: Add remaining water to reach the desired spray volume and maintain gentle agitation.
- Spray: Apply evenly on the crop using a knapsack sprayer or boom sprayer. Ensure thorough coverage of both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
- Timing: Apply during early morning or late evening when temperatures are moderate and wind is low.
- Post-application: Wash spray equipment thoroughly after use. Do not drain leftover spray near water bodies.
