HPM X-Pert Plus is a dual-action insecticide that combines two powerful active ingredients — Novaluron 5.25% and Emamectin Benzoate 0.9% in a Suspension Concentrate (SC) formulation. Novaluron belongs to the benzoylurea group (Insect Growth Regulator), while Emamectin Benzoate belongs to the avermectin group. Together, they provide effective control against a wide range of chewing and boring pests in vegetable and field crops.
This insecticide works through both contact and stomach action, meaning it kills pests when they come in direct contact with the spray or when they feed on treated plant parts. Additionally, it offers translaminar activity — the product penetrates into leaf tissue to reach pests hiding on the undersides of leaves. This makes it highly effective against pests like Diamondback Moth (DBM), Gram Pod Borer, Tobacco Caterpillar, Stem Borer, Leaf Folder, Army Worm, Thrips, and Fruit Borers.
X-Pert Plus is recommended for use on crops such as Cabbage, Chilli, Red Gram, Rice (Paddy), Cotton, Maize, Soybean, and other Vegetables. It is applied as a foliar spray, and 3 sprays are typically required at an interval of 10 days depending on pest infestation levels. The SC formulation ensures uniform coverage and good leaf adherence for better results.
Key Benefits
- Dual-action control — Combines immediate knockdown (contact + stomach action) with long-lasting residual protection through systemic and translaminar activity.
- Effective against hidden pests — Translaminar movement ensures the insecticide reaches pests feeding on the underside of leaves and inside plant tissues.
- Broad-spectrum pest coverage — Controls multiple pest types including borers, caterpillars, leaf folders, thrips, and whitefly across various crops.
- Reduces application frequency — Long-lasting protection means fewer sprays are needed compared to conventional insecticides.
- Uniform spray coverage — SC formulation provides excellent leaf adherence and even distribution on plant surfaces.
- Disrupts pest growth cycle — Novaluron (IGR) stops insect growth and development while Emamectin Benzoate causes paralysis and death through neurotoxin action.
How It Works
HPM X-Pert Plus works through two complementary modes of action. Novaluron, an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) from the benzoylurea group, works by inhibiting chitin synthesis in insects. Chitin is a key component of the insect's exoskeleton. When young insects (larvae) feed on treated plant surfaces, they cannot form a proper new cuticle during molting, which leads to their death. This makes Novaluron especially effective against the larval stages of pests.
Emamectin Benzoate, from the avermectin group, acts as a neurotoxin. When ingested or absorbed through contact, it interferes with the insect's nervous system by disrupting chloride ion channels. This causes immediate paralysis, cessation of feeding, and eventually death. The combination of these two active ingredients provides both quick knockdown (from Emamectin Benzoate) and sustained control (from Novaluron's growth disruption).
The product also has translaminar properties, meaning it can move from the sprayed leaf surface into the leaf tissue. This allows it to reach pests that are feeding on the underside of leaves or inside leaf folds, providing complete protection that contact-only insecticides cannot achieve.

Dilution: Use 1.5 ml per liter of water, or 25 ml per 15-liter knapsack sprayer tank. Mix 300-400 ml of X-Pert Plus in 200 liters of water per acre for foliar application.
Number of Sprays: 3 sprays at an interval of 10 days, depending on pest infestation level.
Method: Foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer. Ensure uniform coverage on both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
When to Use
Apply HPM X-Pert Plus at the early stages of pest infestation for best results. For Diamondback Moth on cabbage, start spraying when young larvae are first observed. For stem borers in rice and maize, apply at the early vegetative stage when egg masses or early signs of damage (dead hearts) are noticed. For gram pod borer in chilli and red gram, apply during the flowering and pod formation stages when pest activity begins.
Since the product works best on young larval stages, regular crop monitoring is important. Do not wait until pest populations become heavy. A total of 3 sprays at 10-day intervals is recommended for effective season-long protection. Avoid spraying during heavy rain or extreme heat to ensure good coverage and effectiveness.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check pest infestation — Inspect your crop regularly. Start application when pests are first noticed at early stages.
- Prepare the spray solution — Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the recommended dose of X-Pert Plus (1.5 ml per liter or 25 ml per 15-liter tank). Mix well. Add remaining water and stir again.
- Wear protective gear — Put on gloves, mask, and protective clothing before handling the product.
- Apply as foliar spray — Use a knapsack sprayer with a fine nozzle. Spray evenly on both upper and lower surfaces of leaves. Ensure complete coverage of the plant canopy.
- Repeat as needed — Apply up to 3 sprays at 10-day intervals depending on pest pressure.
- Clean equipment — After spraying, wash the sprayer thoroughly with clean water. Do not dispose of leftover solution in water bodies.
Compatibility
HPM X-Pert Plus is generally compatible with most commonly used pesticides and fungicides. However, it is recommended to conduct a small jar test before mixing with other products on a large scale. Do not mix with highly alkaline substances. Always follow the mixing order: wettable powders first, then suspension concentrates, then emulsifiable concentrates, and adjuvants last.
