HPM X-Pert Power is a potent insecticide and acaricide formulated with Emamectin Benzoate 1.9% EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate). It belongs to the Avermectin group (Macrocyclic Lactone) and provides broad-spectrum control of a wide range of insect pests and mites across field crops, vegetables, and horticultural crops. This product works through both systemic and contact modes of action, making it highly effective against lepidopteran pests like bollworms, pod borers, fruit borers, leaf folders, and also mites.

X-Pert Power interferes with the neurotransmission in pests, causing them to stop feeding quickly and eventually die. Its stable macrocyclic structure ensures effectiveness even after aqueous hydrolysis, meaning it remains active under varied field conditions. Farmers use it on crops such as cotton, tomato, soybean, groundnut, chickpea, chilli, paddy, safflower, brinjal, and okra. With its dual action as both an insecticide and acaricide, it offers comprehensive protection that helps reduce crop losses and supports better yields.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum control – Effective against caterpillars, bollworms, pod borers, fruit borers, leaf folders, thrips, aphids, and mites in one product.
  • Dual action protection – Works through both systemic (absorbed by the plant) and contact action for complete pest knockdown.
  • Quick feeding cessation – Pests stop feeding within hours of application, reducing crop damage rapidly.
  • Long-lasting residual effect – Provides extended protection, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
  • Stable formulation – Remains effective even after aqueous hydrolysis, ensuring reliable performance in varied weather conditions.
  • Translaminar activity – Penetrates deep into leaf tissue to reach hidden pests that are not directly sprayed.
  • Versatile crop use – Suitable for field crops, vegetables, pulses, and horticultural crops.

How It Works

HPM X-Pert Power contains Emamectin Benzoate, a biologically derived compound from the Avermectin family (macrocyclic lactone group). When applied as a foliar spray, the product is absorbed by the plant tissues (systemic action) and also acts on contact with pests. Once the pest ingests or comes in contact with the chemical, it targets the nervous system by intensifying the effect of neurotransmitters. This disrupts normal nerve signal transmission, leading to uncontrolled nerve firing, muscle paralysis, and feeding cessation within hours. The pest eventually dies within 2–3 days.

The translaminar property of the formulation allows the active ingredient to move through the leaf surface, providing protection even on the underside of leaves where many pests hide. This dual systemic and contact action ensures thorough coverage and effective control of both exposed and concealed pests.

Application Method: Mix the recommended dose in sufficient water (200–250 litres per acre) and apply as a foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer or power sprayer. Ensure complete coverage of the foliage, including the underside of leaves. Apply at the first sign of pest infestation for best results. Repeat application as needed based on pest intensity and crop stage.

When to Use

Apply HPM X-Pert Power during the early stage of pest infestation for maximum effectiveness. The ideal time is when pests first appear on the crop, before populations become large and cause significant damage. For most crops, this means applying during the vegetative to flowering stages when pests like bollworms, fruit borers, and pod borers are most active.

For paddy, apply during the tillering to booting stage when stem borers are active. For chickpea and pulses, apply during the flowering to pod formation stage to protect against pod borers. For cotton, apply at the early infestation stage when bollworms and Spodoptera are first noticed. Regular scouting of the field is recommended to identify pest presence early. Avoid spraying during heavy rain or extreme heat for best results.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare: Wear protective gear including gloves, mask, goggles, and full-sleeve clothing before handling the product.
  2. Measure: Measure the correct dosage as per the crop and pest table above. For general reference, approximately 2 ml per litre of water can be used.
  3. Mix: Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the measured quantity of HPM X-Pert Power and stir thoroughly. Add the remaining water and mix well.
  4. Spray: Use a knapsack sprayer or power sprayer. Apply the mixture evenly on the crop, ensuring coverage on both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
  5. Direction: Always spray in the direction of the wind, not against it, to avoid spray drift settling on your body.
  6. Post-application: Clean all spray equipment thoroughly after use. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water.

Compatibility

HPM X-Pert Power should not be mixed with strongly alkaline chemicals. If tank-mixing with other products is required, it is recommended to conduct a small jar compatibility test before large-scale mixing. Always follow the mixing order: wettable powders first, then suspension concentrates, then emulsifiable concentrates like X-Pert Power, and adjuvants last.

Precautions & Safety

  • Personal protection: Wear rubber gloves, boots, face shield or dust mask, and protective clothing while mixing and spraying.
  • Avoid exposure: Do not allow direct contact with skin, mouth, or eyes. Avoid inhalation of spray mist.
  • During application: Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew tobacco while handling or spraying the product.
  • After use: Wash hands and exposed body parts thoroughly with soap and water. Clean spray equipment after use.
  • Storage: Store in original tightly sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place away from sunlight. Keep away from children, food, feed, and drinking water sources.
  • Environmental safety: Prevent spray drift from reaching water bodies, ponds, and bee colonies. Avoid spraying near flowering plants when bees are active.

Side Effects & Phytotoxicity

When used as per recommended dosage and application guidelines, HPM X-Pert Power is safe for the target crops. However, excessive dosage or improper application may cause phytotoxicity. Always follow the recommended dose per acre and do not exceed it. The product has low toxicity to non-target organisms and beneficial insects like bees when used as directed. Avoid spraying during extreme heat or direct sunlight to minimize plant stress.
