IIL Kunoichi is a powerful and new-generation miticide from Insecticides India Limited, containing Cyenopyrafen 30% SC (Suspension Concentrate) formulation. It is specifically developed to control spider mites and other harmful mite species that damage a wide range of vegetable, fruit, and horticultural crops. Mite infestations can cause severe damage by sucking sap from leaves, reducing plant vigour, and affecting fruit development and yield. Kunoichi offers a reliable solution for farmers dealing with resistant mite populations.
This miticide works through contact and stomach action, with translaminar movement that allows it to reach mites on the underside of leaves. It targets all life stages of mites — eggs, nymphs, and adults — providing complete and long-lasting control. Kunoichi is known for its quick action, with visible results often seen within 48 hours of application. It is safe for beneficial insects and pollinators, making it an excellent choice for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. The product is suitable for use on crops like chilli, brinjal, okra, tomato, grapes, strawberry, apple, tea, and other fruit and vegetable crops.
Key Benefits
- Controls all life stages of mites — eggs, nymphs, and adults — in a single application
- Quick knockdown action with visible results within 48 hours of spraying
- Translaminar action ensures protection even on the underside of leaves where mites hide
- No cross-resistance with other commonly used miticides, making it ideal for rotation programs
- Safe for beneficial insects and pollinators, supporting natural pest control
- Long residual activity reduces the need for frequent spraying, saving time and labour
- Low toxicity and crop-safe on a wide range of vegetables and fruits
- Ovicidal properties provide extended control by preventing egg hatch
How It Works
Cyenopyrafen, the active ingredient in IIL Kunoichi, belongs to the pyrazole chemical group and acts as a mitochondrial complex II electron transport inhibitor. When mites come into contact with or ingest the product, Cyenopyrafen undergoes metabolic transformation into carbonyl compounds. These compounds disrupt the function of succinate dehydrogenase, an essential enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. This disruption inhibits normal mitochondrial function, cutting off the energy supply to mite cells. As a result, mites become paralysed and die within a short period.
The product has both contact and stomach action, meaning it works when mites either touch the spray residue or feed on treated plant tissue. Its translaminar movement allows the active ingredient to penetrate leaf tissue and reach the underside, where mites often feed and hide. This unique mode of action is different from other miticides, which is why Kunoichi shows no cross-resistance with existing products. It also has ovicidal properties, meaning it kills mite eggs and prevents new generations from emerging, giving farmers longer-lasting protection.

Application Method: Foliar spray. Mix the recommended quantity of Kunoichi in sufficient water (typically 200-500 litres per acre depending on crop canopy) and spray thoroughly to ensure complete coverage of all plant surfaces, especially the underside of leaves where mites are commonly found.
Important: Use clean water for mixing. Shake the product well before use. Apply when mite infestation is first noticed for best results.
When to Use
Apply IIL Kunoichi at the first signs of mite infestation. Early symptoms include yellow or white speckling on leaves, fine webbing on the underside of leaves, and stunted plant growth. Mite populations build up quickly during hot and dry weather conditions, so regular crop scouting is important during such periods.
For best results, spray when mites are actively feeding and before populations become severe. The product works on all life stages, so it can be used even when eggs, nymphs, and adults are all present. Repeat application may be needed if mite pressure continues, but the long residual activity of Kunoichi helps extend the interval between sprays. Rotate with miticides from different chemical groups to prevent resistance development.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check infestation: Inspect your crop regularly, especially the underside of leaves, for mite presence.
- Measure correctly: Use a clean measuring cup to take the required quantity (100-120 ml per acre).
- Mix properly: Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water. Add the measured Kunoichi and stir well. Then add remaining water and mix again.
- Spray thoroughly: Use a knapsack or power sprayer. Ensure complete coverage of all plant parts, especially the lower surface of leaves where mites hide.
- Timing: Spray during early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler and mites are more active.
- Clean up: Wash spray equipment thoroughly with clean water after use. Do not dispose of leftover spray solution near water bodies.
Compatibility
IIL Kunoichi is generally compatible with most commonly used pesticides and fungicides. However, it is recommended to conduct a small jar test before mixing with any new product. Do not mix with highly alkaline substances. Always follow the correct mixing sequence: wettable powders first, then suspension concentrates, then emulsifiable concentrates, and adjuvants last.
Precautions & Safety
- Wear protective gloves, mask, and goggles while handling and spraying the product
- Avoid inhalation of spray mist and contact with skin or eyes
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke during application
- Keep away from children, pets, and livestock
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and food items
- Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use
- Avoid spray drift to water bodies, non-target crops, and flowering weeds visited by bees
- Do not apply when bees are actively foraging
Side Effects & Phytotoxicity
IIL Kunoichi has low toxicity and is safe for crops when used at the recommended dosage. It is designed to be safe for beneficial insects and pollinators. No phytotoxicity has been reported when used as per label directions. However, avoid spraying under extreme heat stress or on water-stressed plants to prevent any unwanted effects.
