IIL Mission GR is a next-generation granular insecticide from Insecticides India Limited, containing Chlorantraniliprole 0.4% w/w GR. It belongs to the anthranilic diamide chemical group (IRAC Group 28) and works through a unique mode of action called Ryanodine Receptor Activation. Unlike conventional nerve-poison insecticides, Mission GR targets the muscular system of pests, causing rapid feeding cessation and death.
This product is specifically designed for soil application in paddy (rice) and sugarcane crops. It effectively controls major lepidopteran pests like stem borers, leaf folders, early shoot borer, and top borer. The granules are absorbed through the roots and translocated systemically throughout the plant, providing long-lasting protection from within.
Mission GR is a green-label product with low toxicity to humans and beneficial insects. It is selective—targeting harmful pests while being safe for natural predators, parasitoids, and pollinators. This makes it an excellent choice for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and sustainable farming practices. The product is manufactured in India under IIL's Make in India initiative, making advanced pest control technology accessible to small and marginal farmers across the country.
Key Benefits
- Systemic root absorption: Granules are taken up by roots and move throughout the plant, protecting all parts from internal pests like stem borers
- Long-lasting protection: Provides extended control of borers, reducing the need for repeated applications
- Unique mode of action: Ryanodine receptor activation targets pest muscles—effective against pests resistant to other insecticide groups
- Safe for beneficial insects: Selectively targets harmful pests while preserving honey bees, natural predators, and parasitoids
- Green-label safety: Low toxicity to applicators and the environment when used as directed
- Easy soil application: Granular formulation allows simple broadcasting without need for spray equipment or water mixing
- Make in India quality: Manufactured domestically by Insecticides India Limited, ensuring reliable supply and quality
How It Works
IIL Mission GR works through a unique mechanism that targets the muscular system of the pest, not the nervous system like older insecticides. The active ingredient Chlorantraniliprole belongs to the anthranilic diamide chemical group and acts as a Ryanodine Receptor Activator (IRAC Group 28).
When applied to the soil, the granules release the active ingredient which is absorbed by the plant roots. From there, it moves systemically—traveling upward through the plant's vascular system to reach stems, leaves, and growing points. When a pest like a stem borer or leaf folder feeds on the treated plant tissue, it ingests the active ingredient.
Inside the pest's body, Chlorantraniliprole binds to ryanodine receptors in the muscle cells. This triggers an uncontrolled release of stored calcium, causing the muscles to contract continuously and irreversibly. The pest stops feeding within minutes of ingestion, becomes paralyzed, and dies within 1 to 3 days. Because this mode of action is completely different from organophosphates, pyrethroids, and neonicotinoids, Mission GR is highly effective against pests that have developed resistance to those older chemical groups.

Important: Mission GR is a soil-applied granular formulation. Do NOT dissolve in water or use as a spray. Always follow with light irrigation after application to activate the granules and help root absorption.
When to Use
Apply IIL Mission GR at the early stages of pest infestation for best results. For paddy, apply during the active tillering stage (15–25 days after transplanting) when stem borer or leaf folder activity is first noticed. For sugarcane, apply during the tillering to elongation stage when early shoot borer or top borer damage is observed. Early application prevents pest buildup and protects yield more effectively than waiting for heavy infestation. Apply to moist soil and follow with light irrigation. Avoid application before heavy rain.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Step 1: Wear gloves, mask, and protective clothing while handling the granules.
- Step 2: Measure the correct dosage: 4 kg/acre for paddy, 7.5 kg/acre for sugarcane.
- Step 3: Broadcast the granules evenly over moist soil around the base of the crop plants.
- Step 4: Follow immediately with light irrigation to help the granules dissolve and move into the root zone.
- Step 5: Do NOT dissolve granules in water or use as a foliar spray—this is a soil application product only.
- Step 6: Wash hands and equipment thoroughly after application.
Precautions & Safety
- PPE: Always wear gloves, mask, and protective clothing while handling and applying the granules.
- Hygiene: Wash hands and face thoroughly with soap and water after use. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during application.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and children. Keep the container tightly closed.
