IIL Pulsor is a trusted systemic fungicide from Insecticides India Limited (IIL) containing Thifluzamide 24% SC as its active ingredient. It is specifically formulated to control sheath blight disease in paddy (rice) caused by Rhizoctonia solani, along with other fungal diseases in potato and tomato crops. Belonging to the carboxanilide (thiazole-carboxamide) chemical group, Pulsor works as an SDHI fungicide (IRAC Group 7) that targets the energy production system of fungi.

Pulsor is a suspension concentrate (SC) formulation that is quickly absorbed by plant foliage and moves systemically within the plant. It provides both preventive and curative action, making it effective at different stages of disease infection. The fungicide is non-phytotoxic when used at recommended doses, safe for beneficial insects and pollinators, and compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides. Farmers across India rely on Pulsor for its long-lasting protection, improved crop health, and the natural sheen it imparts to paddy crops.

Key Benefits

  • Provides both preventive and curative control of sheath blight and other fungal diseases
  • Quickly absorbed by leaves with systemic action for thorough protection
  • Long-lasting disease control for 25 to 30 days, reducing need for frequent sprays
  • Excellent rainfastness - remains effective even if it rains 2 hours after spraying
  • Non-phytotoxic and safe for crops when used at recommended doses
  • Safe for beneficial insects and pollinators, supporting a balanced ecosystem
  • Imparts a natural sheen and healthy green appearance to paddy crops (phytotonic effect)
  • Compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides

How It Works

IIL Pulsor works through a unique 3-step mode of action that targets the energy production system of fungi. When sprayed on the crop, Thifluzamide rapidly penetrates the leaf surface and moves to the underside through translaminar action. Once inside the plant, it moves systemically upwards to protect new leaves and stems. The active ingredient targets the Succinate Dehydrogenase enzyme (Complex II) in the fungal mitochondria - this is the energy center of the fungus. By blocking this enzyme, the fungicide cuts off the energy supply (ATP) to the fungus, stopping its growth and killing it immediately. This SDHI (Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor) mode of action (IRAC Group 7) makes Pulsor effective even against fungi that have developed resistance to other chemical groups. The systemic activity ensures that the fungicide reaches hidden infection sites, including the lower stems and sheaths where sheath blight fungus typically develops.

For Knapsack Sprayer (15-litre tank): Use 15 ml per 15-litre pump (based on 0.75-1 ml per litre of water).

For Potato Seed Treatment: Mix 2.5 ml of Pulsor with water for every 10 kg of potato tubers before planting to control Black Scurf.

When to Use

Apply IIL Pulsor at the early signs of infection or as a preventive measure for best results. For paddy, the ideal time to apply is at the maximum tillering stage or as soon as you see the first symptoms of sheath blight. For tomato and potato, apply at the first appearance of disease symptoms such as leaf spots, damping-off, or root rot. Using Pulsor preventively before disease spreads gives the best protection and helps maintain crop health throughout the growing season. Apply during calm weather conditions for even coverage and best results.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Wear protective gloves, mask, and goggles before handling the product.
  2. Measure the required dose - 150 ml per acre (or 15 ml per 15-litre knapsack sprayer).
  3. Fill the spray tank with half the required water and start agitation.
  4. Add the measured Pulsor fungicide to the tank while continuing agitation.
  5. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly until uniform.
  6. Spray the mixture evenly on the crop, directing the nozzle towards the lower stems and sheaths where the fungus typically develops.
  7. Use 200 litres of water per acre to ensure thorough coverage.
  8. Apply during calm weather - avoid spraying in strong wind or rain.
  9. Wash the spray equipment thoroughly after use.
  10. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and plenty of water after application.

Compatibility

IIL Pulsor is compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides, including Cartap Hydrochloride. However, it is always recommended to conduct a small jar test before mixing with other products on a large scale. Do not mix with alkaline substances. Mix only the quantity required for immediate use.

Precautions & Safety

Side Effects & Phytotoxicity

IIL Pulsor is non-phytotoxic and safe for crops when used at the recommended dosage. It does not harm natural pollinators or beneficial insects. However, always follow the recommended dose per acre for accurate results - using excessive dosage may cause crop stress. The product has a Green Triangle toxicity label, indicating it is slightly toxic.
