IIL Suzuka is a broad-spectrum insecticide from Insecticides India Limited containing Flubendiamide 20% WG (Water Dispersible Granule). It is specially designed to control a wide range of caterpillar pests across many important crops. Flubendiamide works through both contact and stomach action, making it highly effective against pests that chew and feed on plant parts. The product provides long-lasting protection of 10 to 15 days after application, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
IIL Suzuka is recommended for use on major crops such as Rice, Cotton, Tomato, Cabbage, Tea, Chilli, Pigeon Pea, Sugarcane, Soybean, Groundnut, Black Gram, and Bengal Gram. It effectively controls pests like stem borer, leaf folder, American bollworm, pod borer, diamond back moth, fruit borer, semi looper, Spodoptera litura, Helicoverpa armigera, Maruca sp., and early shoot borer. The product is applied as a foliar spray and is suitable for use in both routine pest management and during active pest outbreaks.
IIL Suzuka comes in a water dispersible granule (WG) formulation that mixes easily in water and stays suspended, ensuring uniform spray coverage. It is compatible with other insecticides and fungicides, making it convenient for tank mixing. The product is safe when used as per recommended dosages and is not phytotoxic to crops when applied correctly. Available in pack sizes of 25 gm, 50 gm, and 100 gm.
Key Benefits
- Dual action control – Works through both contact and stomach action, killing caterpillars that come in contact with the spray or feed on treated plant parts
- Long-lasting protection – Provides effective pest control for 10 to 15 days after a single application, reducing spray frequency
- Controls all caterpillar stages – Effective against young and older larvae of many chewing pests including bollworms, borers, and leaf folders
- Wide crop suitability – Can be used on rice, cotton, vegetables, pulses, tea, oilseeds, and sugarcane – one product for multiple crops
- Easy to mix and use – Water dispersible granule formulation dissolves readily in water, stays in suspension, and does not clog spray nozzles
- Compatible with other products – Can be tank mixed with other insecticides and fungicides for broader pest and disease control
- Safe on crops – Not phytotoxic when used as per recommended dosage, making it reliable for regular use
How It Works
Flubendiamide, the active ingredient in IIL Suzuka, belongs to the phthalic acid diamide chemical group. It works by disrupting the ryanodine receptor in insect muscle cells. When caterpillars come in contact with the spray or ingest treated plant tissue, Flubendiamide binds to these receptors and causes uncontrolled release of calcium from internal stores. This leads to continuous muscle contraction, paralysis, and eventually death of the pest.
The product has both contact and stomach action. Contact action means the pest dies when the spray droplets directly touch its body. Stomach action means the pest dies after feeding on treated leaves, stems, or fruits. This dual mode of action makes it highly effective even against pests that hide in plant parts like leaf folds, bolls, or pods. Once applied, the product remains active on the plant surface for 10 to 15 days, providing extended protection against new pest infestations.

When to Use
Apply IIL Suzuka at the first sign of pest infestation or when pest population reaches economic threshold levels. For best results, spray during the early stages of pest development when larvae are small and actively feeding. The product is effective against all larval stages, but early application gives better control and prevents crop damage.
- Rice: Apply when stem borer or leaf folder infestation is noticed in the field
- Cotton: Spray during square formation and boll development stages when American bollworm is active
- Cabbage & Tomato: Apply when diamond back moth or fruit borer damage is first observed
- Pulses: Spray during flowering and pod formation stages for pod borer control
- Sugarcane: Apply during early crop growth for early shoot borer management
The frequency of application depends on pest incidence and severity. In case of heavy infestation, a second spray may be needed after 10-15 days. Avoid spraying during heavy rainfall or when rain is expected within 4-6 hours of application.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Calculate the required quantity – Measure the correct dosage based on your crop and field size. For general use, take 1 gm of IIL Suzuka per litre of water.
- Prepare the spray solution – Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the measured quantity of IIL Suzuka granules while stirring continuously. Add the remaining water and mix well until the granules are fully dissolved.
- Check the mixture – Ensure the solution is uniform and no granules remain undissolved at the bottom of the tank.
- Spray application – Apply the solution as a foliar spray using a knapsack or power sprayer. Ensure thorough coverage of all plant parts, especially the undersides of leaves, stems, and fruiting bodies where caterpillars hide.
- Clean equipment – After spraying, wash the spray tank, nozzles, and all equipment thoroughly with clean water before using for any other pesticide.
- Post-application care – Do not allow farm animals or livestock to enter the sprayed area for at least two weeks. Maintain a re-entry period of 24 hours after spraying.
Compatibility
IIL Suzuka (Flubendiamide 20% WG) is compatible with other commonly used insecticides and fungicides. It can be tank mixed for combined pest and disease management. However, do not mix with highly alkaline substances. Always perform a small jar test before mixing with new products to check for physical compatibility. When tank mixing, add IIL Suzuka first, followed by other products in the correct sequence (wettable powders first, then suspension concentrates, then emulsifiable concentrates, and adjuvants last).
Precautions & Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear rubber gloves, rubber boots, dust mask or respirator, and rubber apron or protective clothing while handling and spraying

Side Effects & Phytotoxicity
IIL Suzuka is not phytotoxic to crops when used as per the recommended dosage and application method. No adverse effects on crop growth or yield have been reported when following label instructions. However, as with any pesticide, over-application or use under extreme weather conditions may cause stress to plants. Always follow the recommended dosage and do not exceed the specified rates.
PHI / REI & Storage
