IIL Tozo is a powerful dual-action fungicide from Insecticides India Limited, formulated with two complementary active ingredients: Azoxystrobin 11% and Tebuconazole 18.3% in a Suspension Concentrate (SC) formulation. This combination brings together a strobilurin (Group 11) and a triazole (Group 3) fungicide, giving farmers a broad-spectrum solution that works both preventively and curatively against a wide range of fungal diseases.
Tozo is effective on major crops including chilli, rice (paddy), wheat, onion, grape, apple, tomato, and potato. It controls serious fungal problems like fruit rot (anthracnose), sheath blight, yellow rust, powdery mildew, downy mildew, early and late blight, purple blotch, scab, and premature leaf fall. The product is absorbed by the plant and moves systemically upwards and through the leaf tissue, protecting even new growth that was not directly sprayed. This makes it a reliable choice for farmers looking for long-lasting disease control with fewer sprays.
With a dual systemic mode of action, Tozo attacks fungi at two different biological stages, making it difficult for pathogens to develop resistance. It also offers a "greening effect" that boosts photosynthesis and nitrogen absorption, leading to healthier, greener crops and better quality produce. The SC formulation is rainfast once dried, adding to its field reliability. Tozo is classified as moderately toxic (Blue Triangle) and is suitable for use in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs due to its low impact on non-target organisms when used as directed.
Key Benefits
- Dual-action disease control: Combines preventive and curative action in one product, stopping new infections while healing existing ones.
- Broad-spectrum effectiveness: Controls multiple fungal diseases across many crops, reducing the need for multiple different fungicides.
- Long-lasting protection: Remains active in the plant system for an extended period, reducing the number of sprays needed per season.
- Resistance management: Two different modes of action (Group 11 + Group 3) make it very difficult for fungi to develop resistance.
- Rainfast formula: The SC formulation sticks well to leaves and does not wash off easily after drying (1-2 hours), giving reliable results even in uncertain weather.
- Greening effect: Boosts photosynthesis and nitrogen uptake, resulting in greener leaves, better crop health, and higher quality produce.
- IPM friendly: Low chemical impact on non-target organisms, making it suitable for integrated pest management practices.
- Systemic movement: Absorbed by the plant and moves upwards and through leaves, protecting new growth that was not directly sprayed.
How It Works
Tozo uses a dual synergistic mode of action to attack fungal pathogens from two different angles. The first active ingredient, Azoxystrobin (Group 11 - Strobilurin), works by blocking mitochondrial respiration in the fungus. It stops the fungus from producing energy (ATP), effectively preventing spore germination and stopping the disease before it can spread. The second active ingredient, Tebuconazole (Group 3 - Triazole), inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis. Ergosterol is a key component of the fungal cell wall, and without it, the cell wall structure collapses, causing the fungus to die. Together, these two mechanisms provide both preventive protection (stopping new infections) and curative "kick-back" action (healing existing infections). The product is absorbed by the plant and moves systemically in an upward direction (acropetal) and through the leaf tissue (translaminar), ensuring that even new leaves and unsprayed parts of the plant receive protection.

Method: Foliar spray application only. Mix the required quantity of Tozo in the recommended amount of water and spray uniformly on the crop.
When to Use
For best results, spray Tozo preventively at the flowering stage or as soon as the first signs of disease spots appear on the crop. Early application gives the product time to work systemically and protect new growth. In crops like chilli, apply at the onset of flowering or when fruit rot symptoms are first noticed. For rice, spray at the early stages of sheath blight development. In wheat, apply at the first appearance of rust or powdery mildew pustules. For grapes and apples, schedule sprays before or at the early stages of downy mildew, powdery mildew, or scab infection. Avoid spraying during heavy rain or extreme heat. The product is rainfast once the spray has dried on the leaves (approximately 1-2 hours after application).
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Check the crop: Inspect your field for early signs of fungal disease. Spray at the first sign of infection or as a preventive measure at the flowering stage.
- Calculate the dose: Measure the correct amount of Tozo based on your crop and the size of your field. Refer to the dosage table above for crop-specific recommendations.
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill the spray tank with half the required amount of clean water. Add the measured quantity of Tozo and stir well. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
- Use the right nozzle: Use a hollow cone nozzle to ensure the fine mist reaches the undersides of leaves and leaf sheaths, especially in rice crops.
- Spray uniformly: Apply the mixture evenly over the entire crop canopy. Ensure good coverage of all plant parts, particularly the lower leaves and stems where diseases often start.
- Clean equipment: After spraying, thoroughly clean all spray equipment with clean water. Do not dispose of leftover spray solution near water bodies.
- Follow PHI: Respect the pre-harvest interval for your crop (5 days for chilli, 7 days for tomato/onion/potato) before harvesting.
Compatibility
Tozo is generally compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fertilizers. However, do NOT mix with alkaline products such as Bordeaux mixture or sulfur-based chemicals. If mixing with other products for the first time, perform a small jar test to check for any physical incompatibility (clotting, settling, or separation) before preparing the full tank mix.
Precautions & Safety
- Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, mask, and goggles during mixing and spraying.
- Read the product label and instructions carefully before use.
- Keep the product away from food, animal feed, and drinking water.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
- Avoid spray drift to water bodies as the product is toxic to aquatic life.
- Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling the product.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke while mixing or spraying.
- Seek medical attention immediately in case of accidental ingestion or contact.
Side Effects & Phytotoxicity
When used as per the recommended dosage and application guidelines, Tozo is safe for the target crops. The product is classified as moderately toxic (Blue Triangle). Avoid spraying during extreme heat or when the crop is under moisture stress, as this may increase the risk of phytotoxicity. The product is toxic to aquatic life, so care must be taken to avoid spray drift or runoff into ponds, rivers, or other water bodies.
