How It Works

IIL Trick works as a systemic ALS inhibitor (Acetolactate Synthase inhibitor). The active ingredient, Chlorimuron Ethyl, belongs to the Sulfonylurea chemical group and targets a key enzyme that weeds need to produce essential amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine).

When sprayed on weeds, the herbicide is rapidly absorbed through both the leaves and roots. It then translocates (moves) through the plant's vascular system to the active growing points called meristems. Once it reaches these growth centres, it inhibits the ALS enzyme, blocking the production of amino acids required for protein synthesis and cell division.

As a result, the weed stops growing almost immediately after application. Visible symptoms appear within 3 to 5 days as the weed turns yellow and shows stunted growth. Complete death of the weed occurs within 14 to 21 days after spraying. Importantly, even if weeds appear green for a few days after application, they have already stopped growing and are no longer competing with the crop for nutrients, water, or sunlight.

The systemic nature of Trick ensures that the herbicide reaches all parts of the weed, including underground parts like rhizomes and tubers of sedges, providing thorough control.

Recommended Dosage & Application

Important: Dosage is in GRAMS, not millilitres, as this is a powder formulation. Always follow the "Dose per Acre" for accurate results. Do not overdose, as it may affect the next crop.

When to Use

Timing: Apply Trick between 10 to 20 Days After Sowing (DAS) for Soybean, or at the appropriate early stage for transplanted Paddy. The best results are achieved when weeds are small and actively growing, at the 2 to 4 leaf stage. Delayed application when weeds are larger and more established will reduce the effectiveness of the herbicide.

Soil moisture: Ensure the soil has good moisture at the time of spraying for optimal herbicide uptake by weed roots and foliage. Avoid spraying during heavy rainfall or when rain is expected within 4 hours, as the product needs 4 to 6 hours to become fully rainfast.

Weed stage: Apply when broadleaf weeds and sedges are young and actively growing. Early application gives the best control and prevents weeds from competing with the crop during the critical early growth period.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

1. Check the timing: Ensure it is between 10 to 20 days after sowing (for Soybean) and weeds are at the 2-4 leaf stage.
2. Prepare the spray solution: Take the 15 g sachet of IIL Trick and dissolve it completely in a small amount of water to make a slurry. Then add this slurry to the required volume of water (150 to 200 litres per acre) in the spray tank while stirring continuously.
3. Ensure good mixing: Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure the powder is fully dissolved and uniformly dispersed in the water.
4. Check soil moisture: Ensure the field has adequate moisture before spraying for best results.
5. Spray application: Use a Flat Fan nozzle or Flood Jet nozzle for uniform coverage. Do not use a mist blower with low water volume as it will not provide adequate coverage.
6. Apply uniformly: Spray the solution evenly across the entire field, ensuring thorough coverage of weed foliage.
7. Post-application: Avoid entering the sprayed area until the spray deposit has dried. Wash the spray equipment thoroughly after use.
8. Safety during application: Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, mask, and goggles while handling and spraying. Wash hands thoroughly after use.

Target Weeds

Key Limitation: Trick is not effective against established grasses. For grass control, a separate herbicide or compatible tank mix may be required. Consult an agronomist for grass weed management.
