IIL Victor is a broad-spectrum insecticide from Insecticides India Limited, formulated with Imidacloprid 17.8% SL (Soluble Liquid). It belongs to the neonicotinoid chemical group and works through both contact and stomach action to control a wide range of sucking pests. Victor is a highly systemic insecticide, meaning it gets absorbed by the plant and moves to all parts, including hidden areas under leaves where pests often hide. This makes it highly effective against pests like aphids, whiteflies, jassids, thrips, termites, and psylla on crops such as cotton, paddy, chilli, sugarcane, mango, okra, citrus, and sunflower.

The product acts on the central nervous system of insects, causing rapid paralysis and death. Its rain-fast formulation allows it to remain effective even during light rainfall after the spray has dried. Victor can be applied through multiple methods including foliar spray, soil application, and seed treatment, giving farmers flexibility depending on the pest and crop stage. With long residual activity, it reduces the need for frequent reapplication, making it a cost-effective choice for Indian farmers dealing with persistent sucking pest problems.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum control – Effectively controls multiple sucking pests including aphids, whiteflies, jassids, thrips, termites, and psylla in one application.
  • Systemic protection – The product moves inside the plant to reach hidden pests under leaves and in new growth, providing complete coverage.
  • Rapid knockdown action – Quickly paralyses and kills insects after contact or ingestion, reducing immediate crop damage.
  • Long residual effect – Provides extended protection, reducing the number of sprays needed per season and saving labour and input costs.
  • Rain-fast formulation – Remains effective even after light rain once the spray has dried, giving farmers flexibility in uncertain weather.
  • Multiple application methods – Can be used as foliar spray, soil application, or seed treatment depending on the pest and crop requirement.
  • Cost-effective – Lower dosage requirement and longer-lasting control reduce overall insecticide usage and cost per hectare.

How It Works

IIL Victor contains Imidacloprid, which belongs to the neonicotinoid class of insecticides. When applied to the crop, it is quickly absorbed by the plant tissues and moves systemically through the vascular system to all parts of the plant including leaves, stems, and roots. This systemic movement ensures that even pests feeding on the underside of leaves or inside plant tissues are exposed to the chemical.

Once ingested or contacted by the pest, Imidacloprid binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect's central nervous system. This overstimulates the nervous system, leading to continuous nerve firing, which causes rapid paralysis followed by death. The contact action provides quick knockdown of exposed pests, while the stomach action ensures that pests feeding on treated plant parts also get affected. The long residual activity means the product continues to protect the crop for an extended period after application, reducing the pest population over time.

Application Method: For foliar spray, mix the recommended dosage in sufficient water (typically 200-500 litres per hectare depending on crop canopy) and spray uniformly on the crop. For soil application, apply near the root zone for termite and root pest control. For seed treatment, use as per recommended seed treatment guidelines.

When to Use

Apply IIL Victor when pest infestation is first noticed on the crop. Early application at the initial stages of pest attack gives the best results as the systemic action protects new growth. For sucking pests like aphids, jassids, and whiteflies, spray when the pest population reaches economic threshold levels. For termite control in sugarcane, apply at the time of planting or during early crop growth stages. The product works best when applied during cool morning or evening hours when pest activity is high and the spray droplets can dry properly on the leaves. Avoid application during heavy rainfall or extreme heat for best results.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Check pest infestation – Inspect the crop to confirm pest type and infestation level before deciding to spray.
  2. Measure the dosage – Use the recommended dosage from the table above based on your crop and target pest.
  3. Prepare the spray solution – Fill the spray tank with half the required water. Add the measured quantity of IIL Victor and mix well. Add the remaining water and stir thoroughly.
  4. Spray uniformly – Apply the solution evenly on the crop canopy, ensuring good coverage especially on the underside of leaves where sucking pests hide.
  5. Clean equipment – After spraying, thoroughly clean all spray equipment with water. Do not dispose of leftover solution in water bodies.
  6. Post-application care – Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water after handling the product.
