Victor Plus is a broad-spectrum systemic insecticide from Insecticides India Ltd, containing Imidacloprid 70% in a Water Dispersible Granule (WG) formulation. It is designed to provide effective and long-lasting control of a wide range of sucking pests that damage major agricultural crops. The product works by targeting the central nervous system of insects, causing paralysis and death soon after application.
This insecticide is suitable for use on crops such as rice, cotton, chili, brinjal, okra, tomato, potato, cucumber, and other vegetables. It effectively controls pests like aphids, thrips, jassids, whiteflies, and plant hoppers. Victor Plus is known for its rapid knockdown action, rainfastness, and systemic movement within the plant, which protects even new growth that emerges after spraying. It is a highly concentrated formulation, so only a small quantity is needed per acre, making it economical for farmers.
Key Benefits
- Rapid Knockdown Action: Stops pest feeding immediately upon contact, preventing further crop damage and providing quick relief from infestation.
- Long-Lasting Systemic Protection: Moves upward through the plant (xylem mobile) and provides 10–14 days of protection, including on new growth that develops after spraying.
- Excellent Rainfastness: Quickly absorbed into leaf tissue. Once dry, it does not wash off by rain or irrigation, making it effective even in rainy conditions.
- Economical Low Dosage: High concentration (70%) means very little product is needed per acre (12–15 grams), reducing transport, handling, and application costs.
- Virus Vector Control: Effectively kills whiteflies and aphids that spread viral diseases like Leaf Curl and Mosaic Virus, helping protect overall crop health.
- Broad Spectrum Control: Targets a wide range of sucking pests including aphids, thrips, jassids, white plant hopper, brown plant hopper, and whiteflies in one application.
- Safe on Beneficial Insects: When used as directed, it is safe for pollinators and beneficial insects.
How It Works
Victor Plus contains Imidacloprid, which belongs to the Neonicotinoid chemical group (IRAC Group 4A). It works by targeting the central nervous system of the insect. When sprayed on the crop, the water-dispersible granules dissolve quickly in water and the solution is applied as a foliar spray. The active ingredient is absorbed into the leaf tissue through translaminar action, meaning it penetrates from the upper leaf surface to the underside where many sucking pests hide.
Once inside the insect's body, Imidacloprid binds irreversibly to the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors (nAChRs) in the insect's nervous system. This causes continuous nerve firing (hyperexcitation), leading to paralysis and eventual death of the pest. Because of its systemic action, the chemical moves upward through the plant's vascular system (xylem), protecting not just the sprayed leaves but also new growth that emerges after application. This systemic movement ensures that even hidden or newly arrived pests are exposed to the insecticide.

Recommended Dosage & Application
Important: Victor Plus is a highly concentrated formulation. Accurate weighing is essential for best results. Always follow the dose per acre.
| Crop | Dose per Acre | Water per Acre | Dose per 15 Litres Water | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cotton / Okra | 12 - 15 g | 150 - 200 L | 2 - 3 g | 3 - 7 Days |

Method: Foliar spray only.
When to Use
Apply Victor Plus at the early vegetative stage of the crop, typically 20–40 days after sowing, or as soon as pest populations cross the Economic Threshold Level (ETL). Early application when pest infestation is just beginning gives the best results. For rice, apply when brown plant hoppers or white plant hoppers are first noticed. For cotton and vegetables, apply at the first sign of aphids, jassids, thrips, or whiteflies. Avoid spraying during the active flowering stage to protect honeybees. If spraying is needed during flowering, apply in the late evening when bees are not foraging.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Prepare the spray solution: Fill a small bucket with clean water. Add the required amount of Victor Plus granules (2–3 g per 15 litres of water) and stir well until the granules dissolve completely.
- Mix in main tank: Pour this pre-mixed solution into the main spray tank filled with the required amount of water. Stir or agitate the tank mixture to ensure even distribution.
- Adjust sprayer: Use a knapsack or power sprayer with a fine nozzle for uniform coverage.
- Apply thoroughly: Spray the solution evenly on the crop. Ensure the spray reaches the underside of leaves where aphids and whiteflies hide. For rice, ensure spray reaches the base of the plant stem where hoppers reside.
- Timing: Apply in the morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler and wind is low. Avoid spraying during hot afternoon hours or when rain is expected within 2–3 hours.
- Post-application: Wash the spray equipment thoroughly after use. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water.
Compatibility
Do not mix Victor Plus with other Neonicotinoid insecticides (IRAC Group 4A) as this can lead to resistance development. For resistance management, rotate Victor Plus with insecticides from different chemical groups such as Pymetrozine or Diafenthiuron. Always perform a jar test before mixing with any new product to check for physical compatibility.
Precautions & Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear gloves, a face mask, and goggles while handling and spraying the product.
- During application: Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling or spraying the insecticide. Avoid inhalation of spray mist.
- After application: Wash hands, face, and all exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing separately before reuse.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and drinking water. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Environmental safety: Avoid spray drift onto water bodies, non-target crops, and flowering weeds. Do not contaminate ponds, rivers, or water sources.
- Bee safety: Imidacloprid is toxic to honeybees. Do not spray during active flowering stage or when bees are foraging. Spray in late evening if necessary.
Side Effects & Phytotoxicity
Imidacloprid is toxic to honeybees and other pollinators. Avoid spraying during the flowering period. Do not spray when bees are actively foraging. The product is classified with a Yellow/Blue Triangle toxicity label indicating high toxicity — handle with care.
