Product Overview

UPL Saaf Fungicide is a highly trusted and widely used fungicide in India, formulated with a powerful combination of Carbendazim 12% and Mancozeb 63% in a wettable powder (WP) formulation. This dual-action fungicide provides comprehensive protection against a broad spectrum of fungal diseases affecting various crops like chilli, grape, mango, paddy, potato, maize, tea, and groundnut. Carbendazim acts systemically, moving through the plant's vascular system to inhibit fungal cell multiplication, while Mancozeb offers contact protection by forming a protective barrier on plant surfaces. This dual mechanism ensures both preventive and curative action, making it effective against diseases such as fruit rot, leaf spot, powdery mildew, anthracnose, and blight. UPL Saaf is designed for foliar spray and seed treatment applications, offering long-lasting efficacy and helping farmers maintain healthier crops and achieve higher yields. Safety is paramount, and users are advised to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow recommended application guidelines to minimize environmental impact and ensure crop safety.

Key Benefits

  • Provides dual systemic and contact protection, ensuring comprehensive disease control.
  • Effective against a wide range of fungal diseases, including leaf spot, rust, and blight.
  • Enhances crop health and productivity by reducing disease-related crop loss.
  • Long-lasting protection reduces the need for frequent applications, saving time and resources.
  • Safe for use on a variety of crops, with minimal harmful residues.

How It Works

UPL Saaf Fungicide operates through a dual mechanism. Carbendazim, a systemic fungicide, is absorbed by the plant and translocated throughout the tissues, disrupting fungal cell division. Mancozeb acts as a contact fungicide, forming a protective layer on the plant surface to prevent fungal spore penetration. This combination provides effective control of both systemic and surface-level fungal infections.

When to Use

Apply UPL Saaf Fungicide during the early stages of infection or as a preventive measure. For optimal results, spray during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon, on a clear, non-windy day to ensure thorough coverage and absorption.

Dosage & Application

For foliar application, use 300-400 grams per acre or 2 grams per liter of water. For seed treatment, apply 2.5 grams per kg of seed. Ensure thorough mixing and even coverage during spraying. Follow label instructions for crop-specific dosages and intervals.

Precautions & Safety

  • Wear protective gloves, masks, and goggles during application to prevent skin and eye contact.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from food, water sources, and out of reach of children and pets.
  • Avoid overuse to prevent environmental contamination and crop damage.
  • Wash hands and equipment thoroughly after use to remove any residues.

PHI/REI & Storage

The pre-harvest interval (PHI) varies by crop: Chilli: 3 days; Grape: 7 days; Mango: 7 days; Paddy: 57 days; Potato: 47 days; Maize: 37 days; Tea: 7 days; Groundnut: 72 days. Store the product in a sealed container at a temperature between 5-30°C.
