Uttam Chloroveer is a broad-spectrum insecticide built on Chlorpyriphos 20% EC, an emulsifiable concentrate formulation manufactured by Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd. It is designed to control a wide range of chewing and sucking pests that damage standing crops, including stem borers, plant hoppers, bollworms, white grubs, termites, aphids, jassids, thrips, mites, whiteflies and caterpillars. The product is suitable for use across major field and vegetable crops such as paddy, cotton, wheat, groundnut and vegetables.

The formulation works mainly through stomach and contact action. When the spray deposits settle on the plant surface, pests pick up the insecticide while feeding or moving across treated foliage. This disrupts normal nerve signal transmission, leading to paralysis and death of the pest. Because the active ingredient stays active on the treated surface for a period after spraying, it continues to protect the crop from fresh pest attacks rather than only knocking down the insects present at the time of spraying.

Uttam Chloroveer is supplied as a liquid emulsifiable concentrate, which mixes easily with water and is applied as a foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer. It is intended for agricultural use only and should always be used as per the label and leaflet directions. Correct dosage, proper spray coverage and timely application at early pest infestation are the key factors that decide how well the product performs in the field.

Key Benefits

  • Controls a wide range of pests — stem borers, plant hoppers, bollworms, white grubs, termites, aphids, jassids, thrips, mites, whiteflies and caterpillars — with a single product.
  • Quick knockdown action helps bring down actively feeding pest populations within a few hours of spraying.
  • Residual activity on treated foliage gives continued protection, reducing the need for very frequent repeat sprays.
  • Works through stomach and contact action, so it is effective against pests that feed on treated plant parts as well as those that come in contact with the spray deposit.
  • Suitable for use across paddy, cotton, wheat, groundnut and vegetables, making it a practical choice for mixed cropping farms.
  • Liquid EC formulation mixes easily with water and is convenient to apply with a standard knapsack sprayer.
  • Helps keep the crop free from pest damage during critical growth stages, supporting healthier plant growth and better yield potential.

How It Works

Uttam Chloroveer contains Chlorpyriphos 20% EC as its active ingredient. Chlorpyriphos belongs to the organophosphate group of insecticides and acts on the nervous system of insects. After the spray dries on the leaf surface, the insecticide enters the pest either when it feeds on the treated plant tissue (stomach action) or when its body comes into direct contact with the spray deposit (contact action).

Once inside the insect, the active ingredient interferes with the normal transmission of nerve signals by affecting the enzyme that regulates nerve impulses. This leads to continuous, uncontrolled nerve activity, which causes the insect to lose coordination, stop feeding, become paralysed and eventually die. Because the effect is on the insect's nervous system, the knockdown is usually visible within a few hours of application.

The emulsifiable concentrate formulation is designed to spread and deposit evenly on the leaf surface when mixed with water. This even coverage is important because the product works mainly where the spray actually lands. Pests that are hidden inside the stem, in the soil, or on the underside of leaves may not be reached by a single spray, which is why correct spray direction, water volume and timing matter. Applying at early pest infestation, when the pest population is still building up, gives the best results and helps prevent the crop from suffering serious damage.

Recommended Dosage & Application

Uttam Chloroveer is applied as a foliar spray. Mix the required quantity of the insecticide in clean water and spray evenly over the crop foliage using a knapsack sprayer.

CropTarget PestsDosage
PaddyPlant hoppers, stem borer300–320 ml per acre
GroundnutWhite grubs, termites400 ml per acre
CottonBollworm complex400–480 ml per acre
WheatAphids400 ml per acre
VegetablesWhiteflies, caterpillars400 ml per acre

Spray solution preparation: Use 2 ml of Uttam Chloroveer per litre of water. For a standard 15-litre knapsack spray pump, add 30 ml of the insecticide. Mix thoroughly before spraying.

Reapplication: Repeat the spray based on pest population levels and prevailing environmental conditions. Do not exceed the label-recommended dose.

When to Use

Uttam Chloroveer gives the best results when it is applied at the early stage of pest infestation, before the pest population builds up and causes visible crop damage. Scout your field regularly and start spraying as soon as you notice the first signs of pest activity, such as early leaf damage, hopper presence at the base of the plant, or borer entry holes.

Because the product works mainly through contact and stomach action, the spray must land on the plant parts where the pest is present. For stem borers and plant hoppers in paddy, direct the spray towards the base of the plant. For bollworms in cotton and caterpillars in vegetables, ensure good coverage of leaves, buds and developing fruits. For soil-dwelling pests such as white grubs and termites in groundnut, apply as directed so that the spray reaches the target zone.

Avoid spraying during strong wind, or when rain is expected shortly after application, as the spray may drift away or get washed off before it can act. Spraying in the cooler hours of the day is generally more comfortable and safer for the operator. Repeat application only when pest pressure continues, and follow the label directions for the interval between sprays.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

  1. Read the product label and leaflet carefully before opening the container.
  2. Wear protective gear — gloves, mask, goggles, full-sleeved clothing and boots — before handling the insecticide.
  3. Measure the required quantity of Uttam Chloroveer. Use 2 ml per litre of water, or 30 ml for a 15-litre spray pump, or follow the crop-wise per-acre dose given above.
  4. Half-fill the spray tank with clean water, add the measured insecticide, then top up with the remaining water. Mix well.
  5. Spray evenly over the crop foliage using a knapsack sprayer, directing the spray towards the plant parts where the pest is present.
  6. Spray at early pest infestation for best results. Avoid spraying in strong wind or just before rain.
  7. Do not eat, drink or smoke while mixing or spraying.
  8. After spraying, wash your hands, face and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water, and wash the spray equipment.
  9. Store the remaining product in its original container, tightly closed, away from children, pets, food and animal feed.
  10. Dispose of empty containers safely as per label directions. Never reuse them for food or water.
