Warden Extra is a patented triple-action crop protection solution from Best Agrolife Limited that works as both an insecticide and a fungicide. It contains three powerful active ingredients — Trifloxystrobin 6%, Thiamethoxam 24%, and Thiophanate Methyl 9.5% in a Flowable Suspension (FS) formulation. This unique combination provides broad-spectrum protection against sucking insect pests and fungal diseases in one product, making it a cost-effective and convenient choice for farmers.

Warden Extra can be used in three different ways — as a seed treatment, as a soil drench, and as a foliar spray. This flexibility allows farmers to protect their crop right from the seed stage through to the growing season. The product is especially effective for okra, soybean, groundnut, vegetables, pulses, and cereal crops. It targets major problems like damping off disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani, and sucking pests such as leafhoppers, aphids, and whiteflies. With its systemic, protective, and curative action, Warden Extra ensures healthier crop establishment, better early growth, and reduced losses in the field.

Key Benefits

  • Dual action in one product: Works as both an insecticide and a fungicide, saving time and money on separate sprays.
  • Triple protection from seed to harvest: Can be used as seed treatment, soil drench, and foliar spray for complete crop coverage.
  • Controls major sucking pests: Effectively manages leafhoppers, aphids, and whiteflies that damage young crops.
  • Prevents damping off disease: Protects seedlings from soil-borne fungal infections caused by Rhizoctonia solani.
  • Improves germination and early growth: Treated seeds show better stand establishment and vigorous seedling development.
  • Systemic action for lasting protection: Active ingredients move inside the plant to provide both preventive and curative effects.
  • Patented formulation for Indian conditions: Developed through indigenous research, ensuring suitability for local farming practices.

How It Works

Warden Extra combines three active ingredients that work together through different modes of action to protect crops from both insects and diseases.

Thiamethoxam (24%) is a systemic neonicotinoid insecticide. When applied to seeds or sprayed on leaves, it is absorbed by the plant and moves upward through the vascular system. Sucking pests like aphids, leafhoppers, and whiteflies feed on the treated plant and ingest the chemical, which targets their nervous system and stops feeding quickly, leading to pest mortality.

Trifloxystrobin (6%) is a strobilurin group fungicide. It works by inhibiting fungal spore germination and mycelial growth. It has protective and curative properties and moves locally within the leaf tissue (translaminar movement), providing a shield against fungal infections like damping off.

Thiophanate Methyl (9.5%) is a systemic benzimidazole fungicide. It is absorbed by roots and leaves and moves throughout the plant. It interferes with fungal cell division, providing both preventive and curative control against seed-borne and soil-borne fungal pathogens.

Together, this triple formulation ensures that the crop is protected from multiple threats simultaneously. The systemic nature of all three ingredients means the protection moves inside the plant, not just on the surface, giving longer-lasting and more complete coverage.

When to Use

Warden Extra is most effective when used at the right time during the crop cycle.

As a seed treatment: Use at the time of sowing. Treating seeds before planting protects the young seedlings from soil-borne fungal diseases like damping off and from early-stage sucking pest attacks. This gives the crop a strong and healthy start.

As a soil drench: Apply at the seedling stage or when early signs of root rot or damping off are visible. Drenching around the base of the plant helps control soil-borne pathogens effectively.

As a foliar spray: Apply when you first notice sucking pests (aphids, leafhoppers, whiteflies) or fungal disease symptoms on the leaves. Early application at the onset of infestation gives the best results. For okra, apply during the vegetative stage before flowering for maximum protection.

The product is especially valuable during the early growth stages when crops are most vulnerable to pest and disease damage. Regular monitoring of the field will help you identify the right time for foliar application.

Step by Step Usage Instructions

For Seed Treatment:

  1. Wear gloves and protective gear before handling the product.
  2. Take the required quantity of seeds (e.g., 1 kg).

For Foliar Spray or Drenching:

  1. Wear protective clothing, gloves, mask, and goggles.
  2. Fill a spray tank with half the required water (150-200 litres per acre).
  3. Measure 200 to 240 ml of Warden Extra per acre.
  4. Add the product to the tank and mix well.
  5. Add the remaining water and stir thoroughly to ensure uniform mixing.

  8. Clean all equipment thoroughly after use.
  9. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water after spraying.

Compatibility

Warden Extra is generally mixable with most commonly used pesticides and fertilizers. However, it is always recommended to perform a small jar test before mixing with any new product. Mix small quantities of both products in a jar of water and check for any signs of precipitation, curdling, or separation. If the mixture remains stable, it is safe to use. Avoid mixing with highly alkaline substances unless compatibility is confirmed.
