HPM 7 Star is a broad-spectrum insecticide containing Thiamethoxam 25% WG (Wettable Granules), a next-generation neonicotinoid active ingredient. It is designed to provide effective control of a wide range of sucking and chewing pests that damage important crops like cotton, paddy, fruits, and vegetables. The product works through three modes of action—systemic, contact, and translaminar—ensuring that pests feeding on any part of the plant are reached and controlled.
Farmers can see visible results within a few hours of application, which helps prevent early crop damage and yield loss. The systemic action means the insecticide is absorbed by the plant and moves throughout its tissues, protecting even new growth. The translaminar action allows the chemical to spread sideways through the leaf, reaching hidden pests on the underside. This triple-action makes HPM 7 Star a reliable and versatile choice for integrated pest management in Indian farming conditions.
The wettable granule (WG) formulation is easy to mix with water and apply through standard foliar spray equipment. With a single spray providing protection for 12–15 days, it reduces the need for repeated applications, saving farmers time, labour, and input costs. Additionally, by controlling insect vectors, it helps prevent the spread of pest-borne diseases such as leaf curl in cotton.
Key Benefits
- Triple-action control: Systemic, contact, and translaminar action ensures pests are controlled whether they feed on the surface, underside, or inside the plant tissues.
- Fast visible results: Effects can be seen within a few hours of spraying, stopping pest damage early and protecting crop health.
- Long-lasting protection: A single spray provides effective control for 12–15 days, reducing the number of sprays needed compared to older insecticides.
- Broad-spectrum effectiveness: Controls multiple sucking and chewing pests including aphids, jassids, hoppers, thrips, whiteflies, leaf folders, and stem borers.
- Disease prevention: By controlling insect vectors, it helps prevent the spread of diseases like leaf curl in cotton.
- Easy-to-use formulation: Wettable Granules (WG) disperse quickly in water, ensuring consistent spray quality and easy handling.
- Versatile crop suitability: Effective on cotton, paddy, fruits, vegetables, and other field crops.
How It Works
HPM 7 Star contains Thiamethoxam, a neonicotinoid insecticide that works by disrupting the nervous system of target pests. When sprayed on the crop, the product is quickly absorbed by the plant leaves and roots through its systemic action. Once inside the plant, it moves upward through the xylem tissues, reaching all parts including new shoots, leaves, and stems. This ensures that even pests feeding on parts not directly sprayed are exposed to the insecticide.
The translaminar action allows the active ingredient to penetrate the leaf surface and move across the leaf tissue from the upper side to the lower side. This is especially important for controlling hidden pests like thrips and whiteflies that often feed on the underside of leaves. The contact action provides immediate knockdown of pests that come into direct contact with the spray droplets.
Thiamethoxam binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect's nervous system, causing overstimulation of nerve cells. This leads to uncontrolled nerve firing, paralysis, and eventually death of the pest. Because of its systemic movement, the product provides long-lasting residual protection, safeguarding the crop for up to 12–15 days after application.

General dilution guide:
- Per litre of water: 0.5 gm
- Per 15-litre knapsack sprayer: 8 gm
- Per acre: 80 gm in sufficient water (approx. 150–200 litres)
Application method: Foliar spray using knapsack sprayer or power sprayer. Ensure thorough coverage of both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
When to Use
Apply HPM 7 Star at the first sign of pest infestation for best results. Early application when pest populations are low helps prevent the buildup of damaging levels. For sucking pests like aphids, jassids, and thrips, spray when you first notice these insects on the crop. For hoppers in paddy, apply when hopper nymphs or adults are observed. In cotton, early spraying helps prevent the spread of leaf curl disease transmitted by whiteflies.
Spray during the cooler parts of the day—early morning or late evening—to avoid high temperatures and strong sunlight that can reduce effectiveness. Avoid spraying when heavy rain is expected or during strong winds, as this can wash off the chemical or cause spray drift. The product is most effective when applied to actively growing crops, as the systemic action relies on the plant's natural movement of water and nutrients.
Step by Step Usage Instructions
- Prepare: Wear gloves, a mask, and goggles before handling the insecticide.
- Measure: Take the required amount—0.5 gm per litre of water, or 8 gm per 15-litre sprayer.
- Mix: Add the measured granules to a small amount of clean water and stir until fully dissolved. Then add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
- Maintain agitation: Keep the spray solution agitated during application to ensure uniform suspension.
- Spray: Apply evenly over the crop, covering both upper and lower leaf surfaces. Use a knapsack or power sprayer.
- Avoid: Do not spray during peak heat, strong winds, or when rain is expected within a few hours.
- Clean up: Wash hands, face, and all exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after spraying. Wash spray equipment separately.
